Fancying My Fabulous Fifties
It's my time to shine, to rep my King and touch the world. #quote Click To TweetI used to think a person’s “fabulous fifties” was just a fancy term
A known expression-turned euphemism to escape unpleasant reality
I thought it ridiculous that middle age could be seen as such
I sneered at what I called the vanity that dreamt this up
I was never bothered about age, hardly took it to heart
I was busy fighting my battles, keeping the demons at bay
But the years flew past and here I am by the mercy of God
Can’t believe I’ve been around for half a century plus plus
I may have changed but it’s in a lovely way, I would say
I got a fuller figure, a wider smile, a softer approach to folks
I’m loving the Lord, trying to make what difference I can
And by His grace, I’m learning and growing as I do His will
So yes, there’s such a thing as a person’s fabulous fifties
It’s my time to shine, to rep my King and touch the world
The devil didn’t think I’d be here still, looking oh so good
But the Lord had plans and He always has the last say
All glory to Jehovah as I celebrate my birthday today
He’s been my Ebenezer, my ever-present help in trouble
He’s making my light to shine brighter with each new day
And He’s got me fancying my fabulous fifties no end
