THIS I PRAY, LORD! (POEM)

Intro:
If you’re a Christian, you will find this poem relatable. It covers in a crisp fashion the daily struggles of the believer as we seek to live for God in the face of stiff opposition from ungodly forces. Read and be blessed in Jesus’ name.

THIS I PRAY, LORD!

Lord, I call to you in weakness
My heart clothed with meekness
The flesh is battling hard today
My commitment to you to slay
And I have no power to deter
Attacks from the tempter’s lair
Let your grace abound, Lord
So that I can wield the sword
The deadly weapon of your word
That can scatter the evil horde
Who war against my weary soul
To keep me from being whole
From serving you in holiness
Or to part me from your goodness
But they cannot separate us
As you stimulate me to focus
On the pure, lofty and eternal
Downgrading the temporal
And constrain me by love’s cord
This I pray, my precious Lord
