ZIKI’S DISTRESS #2 (SHORT STORY)

The Story so Far:
In the first episode of this story, Ziki was suddenly kicked out by his girlfriend after five years of co-habitation. How does he cope without the luxury of being a gigolo? Let us hear from him below.

☺☺☺
I’M NOT THERE YET, BUT I’M MOVING FORWARD

Five months months later

I can’t believe how hot the sun can be! I used to describe myself as brown-skinned and you couldn’t dispute that when I stayed with Yvette. But now, the sun has burnt me black and my cheeks are close to gaunt. I have just a few decent clothes left. And my money is all gone. How did that happen?

When I left Yvette’s duplex at Anthony Village, a cool Lagos neighbourhood, the first thing I did was send N80,000 home for my mum’s medical treatment. My brother had been shouldering the burden all alone. To think that it took a disaster like the one that hit me to make me actually do something for my mum!

I avoided my brother as I’d been doing since I moved out of his house. Rather I called one of my school mates, Tare, and he welcomed me into his efficiency apartment at Oshodi, Lagos. We were smack in the middle of Lagos chaos, with hoodlums called Area Boys, traffic jams and blaring vehicle horns. Tare had a job as a teacher in a private school. We were of the same height and build (5 ft 9″ and slender.). He began to wear my clothes to school. I couldn’t say “No.” After all, he was sheltering me. But I kept him away from my suits, except on Sundays. I was traversing Lagos too in search of a job. Well, when two busy guys are sharing the same wardrobe, the clothes are bound to feel the impact. Add that to the fact that my costly clothes that were drycleaned at Yvette’s expense haven’t taken kindly to constant washing with bar soap.

I also needed to contribute to food. Between transporting himself to school and paying rent, Tare had little left of his N30,000 salary. So I stepped in and started putting decent meals on the table. You can’t believe how fast a hundred grand can go when you do that. I bought poultry, liquid milk and semolina, you know stuff like that which I had got accustomed to. I also bought fragrant imported toiletries, serviettes and so on. I was determined to live well until I got a job. Tare and I ran through the whole stuff in less than two weeks.

?

I came down to powdered milk, garri, Joy soap, etc. to be more realistic. They still cut deeply into my pocket. There’s just no way to manage in this country. No matter how low you go, you’ll still be wiped out, I’m telling you!

So here I am, five months later, jobless and penniless. Yvette had called after the second month and offered to take me back and for a moment, I was tempted ’cause let’s face it, Yvette is the bomb: classy, intelligent, beautiful and rich (underline rich). But I held on to my dignity. If she could kick me to the kerb without notice once, what’s to say she wouldn’t do it again? And I’d had time to think about it and decided I really didn’t want to marry her. Although I doubted I could ever have a woman like her again, I figured that since I wasn’t bringing much to the table, I would always be her slave. A pampered slave though, but a slave nonetheless. That wasn’t healthy.

Looking back, I can see that my other liaisons were meant to give me the experience of being in control which was totally lacking in my relationship with Yvette. A man has got to be in control, otherwise he’s gonna overcompensate in some way like cheating, verbally or physically abusing his woman. Just my point of view anyway.

Back to the present. I’m sitting outside our compound (I have no money to photocopy credentials for job-hunting. I haven’t even had breakfast and it is past noon.) Even though I am under a tree, the heat from the sun has my shirt soaking wet. As I pull it off, a fellow with some flyers approaches me.

He gives me one and announces: “We’re having a special outreach in church this night.”

“Yeah, I don’t have anything better to do.” He thinks I’m being sarcastic. “I mean, I will come. I hope it’s close.”

He peps up. “It’s right by the corner. The time is 9 p.m.You would really come?”

“Yeah, sure! That is if I don’t kill myself before then.”

“Hey man, that is not something to joke about!”

“Who says I’m joking?”

“Can I sit?”

“Sure.” He joins me on the wooden bench and asks why I would want to kill myself. He seems sincere enough, so I tell him the story of my life. I expect him to give me a long sermon on how Jesus will turn my story to glory or one of those clichés but he doesn’t.

“That is some story! Quite similar to mine three years ago.” I have no desire to hear his story. Thankfully, he doesn’t share it. Rather, he asks me an unexpected question.

“Have you eaten today?” I’d told him I couldn’t find a job and I’d run out of money but I didn’t mention not having breakfast.

“No.”

“So, let’s go and eat at Mama Philo’s.”

Mama Philo’s is a restaurant two houses away. I agree and this fellow, who looks to be about my age (early thirties) buys me a double plate of garri with okro soup and beef. He also buys a double plate of jollof rice with fried fish for me to take home.

(When I earlier said I would honour the invitation, I wasn’t a hundred per cent sure I would but by the time we parted, I decided I would definitely be there and take Tare along if possible.)

[bctt tweet=”One wise decision can change the course of a man’s life for good. #quote” username=”edithohaja1″]

After three months

At the risk of sounding trite, I must say that that programme marked a turning point in my life. I took a job which I would have considered an insult in the past, pounding yam and cassava fufu at Mama Philo’s. The pay was N7,000 but I got free food. After one month, I became a janitor in an office complex. Not good enough for a guy with a degree in Chemistry but at least I could feed myself. The pay was N20,000. And just three days ago, I was hired to work in the Quality Control Department of a manufacturing company. Salary: N80,000.

The best news of all is that I am now a child of God. And so is Tare. I bear Yvette no ill will. I hear she’s now married and I wish her happiness. I just hope she didn’t do it to spite me though because it happened so soon after she asked me back. I also pray she meets the Lord someday because I learnt first hand from being with her that money can’t buy happiness.

Something else my relationship with her taught me is that what is not yours is not yours no matter how much you’re allowed to use it. In God’s good time, I will have my own wife, a nice house and a car. Meanwhile, I am grateful for what God has brought me through. And by His grace, I will keep moving forward from glory to glory, as the Bible says.

Would love to hear from you.

Do you think Ziki was right in refusing to go back to Yvette, even though he was suffering and she could have provided him with lots of comfort?

Do you agree with Ziki that, “A man has got to be in control, otherwise he’s gonna overcompensate in some way like cheating, verbally or physically abusing his woman”?

Could the offer of food to Ziki have been inspired and instrumental to getting him to church?

What advice do you have for Ziki at this point?

Any word for Yvette?

Cheers!

Nice story Aunty. Ziki took the best decision by not going back. He should continue in his new found life in Christ because that is where true happiness comes from.

  • Mercy

Nice write up ma, I believe Zike took the right decision by taking the bold step to be a man. Thumbs up to him because the patient dog eats the fattest bone.

    • Edith Ohaja

Nice to have you here, Mercy. You are blessed!

      • Joseph Chizoba Kingsley

Oh! I really love how Ziki’s life was changed. Thanks to that fellow who has contributed to this Godly change in his life. We, the contemporary christians should learn from this story. When we realise the problem facing someone who needs our help, and we know we can solve it please let’s go ahead and solve it . Preaching and quoting Bible verses when you actually know what the problem is will not bring solution. we can see that Ziki was made to attend the church programme he was invited for and was converted not because he was preached to but because the fellow find a solution to his problem – Hunger.
He now realise that when he humbles himself that God will exalt Himself. He started from receiving 7,000 to receiving 80,000. Glory to God!

  • Nice story man, pity it has ended. ??
For the first question, Ziki was right to not have gone back. She rejected him. Going back and having her take him back out of pity will be terrible. She’ll start treating him like she’s doing him a favour. So no, once someone doesn’t want you, it’s right to move on.
For Ziki’s comment, I don’t agree o. I think anyone will cheat if they want to. Being in control won’t make an unfaithful person faithful. Did I hear him say “physical abuse?” On that rich girl? Oga would have slept in jail ?

I think food did make Ziki interested in whatever the guy had to say. ? it gave him the patience to consider listening. Also, the guy’s approach was excellent: appeal to their humanity first (that feeding), and then preach the kingdom afterwards.

For Ziki, well, he’s doing better and better, he should not give up.

And for Yvette, well, happy married life.
    ?

    • Edith Ohaja

Wonderful comment, Chinemerem! I dusagree with Ziki too. Excuses are a dime a dozen when someone wants to misbehave but nothing can justify cheating. You ate blessed!

  • CHUKWU EBERE

Wow! Enjoyed the story. I must commend Ziki for being principled enough not to go back to the woman who kicked him out. And really, the offer of food did get to him and was a very good way of reaching the gospel out to him. That is a very great way of sending a message of hope to those who are lost and in need of salvation, not necessarily through food but helping out with their basic needs. Glad he was able to make something out of his life and I hope Yvette enjoys her marriage and also gets saved.

    • Edith Ohaja

I hope so too. Thanks for following the story to the end and for your wise comments. You are lifted in Jesus’ name.

  • NNENNA EZE

Wow! I must confess that this story is really nice and reminded me of the fact that no matter how u dogde ur responsibility, you will not dogde the consequencies. Okay, Ziki having been accepted by Yvette, instead of investing the money he was given monthly, he lavished it. Thank GOD, he finally turned to God, because life without him is full of crises. Thanks, Ma, for this wonderful piece.

    • Edith Ohaja

I’m glad you enjoyed the story and took something away from it, Nnenna. I love the quote about responsibility and consequences. God bless you, my dear!

  • Okemiri ifunanya Diana

Wow!! Ma, am speechless but the truth must be told. This story is different from your other stories. It has this imagery in my head. It reflects our everyday life whereby a lady will pack her things to live with a man who is not even ready for marriage in two to three years to come and at the end of everything, he will tell her leave my house. So to me, it’s good that the woman treated him the way she did because if he was the one in charge, he could have done worse than that. You never can tell. So all am saying is that she made him stand on his feet and not to be hoping on already made money. She made him remember God because when he was busy uselessing money, he did not remember God until he was thrown out of the house, but I thank God for everything.

    • Edith Ohaja

Bless you, Ifunanya! But you know, it is like my other stories. They all address different aspects of life. Have you read, “Going ‘Home’ to Gerald?” It’s also about co-habitation. Cheers!

  • Ogbu Gloria

Wow..this Is mind blowing.God is really merciful,He picks a sinner and turns his life around…Thank you aunty for this piece

  • euniprecious

I love this story. One igbo proverb says whenever u wakeup is ur morning. if not that she threw him out of her house, he wil never understand all that life is. not all that gliters is gold. yes ziki did well for not coming back again to her house becos instead of her teaching him how to catch a fish, she is busy giving him fishes to eat. Ziki is a real man. its always good to be outstanding.

  • ugwu chika

Wow! That was awesome. God does his things in his own time, so we have to be patient and trust in God and he will see us through.

  • Kat

Well, I can tell you I’m glad I visited your blog today after a long while. This story is incredible. Ziki learnt his lesson the hard way but it was worth every distress he faced. He couldn’t have made a better decision to struggle for and by himself. With God by his side, Ziki’s distress is definitely over. Now, without further ado I’d like to continue my happy reading. #smiles#. Good job, aunty!

  • Amarachi Albert

Nice one Ma. I believe the part of Ziki accepting the invitation to attend the church programme because of the food offered to him is really telling us how far we should go in demonstrating the love of God. The Gospel can be shared in many ways like giving, because our God is a generous God.

    • Edith Ohaja

Yes, my dear! Giving demonstrates that we care and reveals the love of God for the receiver in a special way. Congratulations on your recent graduation! Keep soaring, my dear, in Jesus’ name.

  • Blessing obidudu

Beautiful, Ma!!. Ziki made a good choice by accepting to attend the church program.

  • Ibeh chiamaka

This is a very interesting and didactic story. If yvette hadnt thrown zik out, he would have ended up being her slave but, I’m happy with the way things turned out for zik and I’m also happy that he stood his ground and made the right decision by attending that church programme which changed his life. This shows that God is the only one that can put an end to the crisis and hardship we are facing in life and also turn our situation around.

    • Edith Ohaja

Bless you, Chiamaka! Sometimes, we just need to give God a chance and He will do that which we may have termed impossible in our lives.

  • Ugama Gloria Nkechinyere

What a wonderful story! God is always ready to welcome anyone who turns a new leaf, leaving his old or sinful life. Ziki is a testimony of God’s goodness.

    • Edith Ohaja

True, my dear! Sometimes He allows to suffer so we can realise the error of our ways and when we change, He brings restoration and upliftment.

  • Levi ifeanyi

What a nice story ma, people come to their senses when they experience hardship just like Ziki and this goes with the Igbo adage “akpusi GBA ike omuru ako.”

    • Edith Ohaja

Lol! We can learn from the word of God if we apply it without suffering the consequences of wrongdoing before learning. God bless and protect you in Jesus’ name.

  • Israel Chinwe Goodness

atleast ziki has got some sense not to have gone back because he will never be valued. he will just be treated like a puppy. God that made man the head of the family did not make mistake it is always better when a man is in control of the family. and preaching the gospel requires great sacrifice, the food actually made Ziki to honour the invitation. ziki should just remain steadfast and watch God’s love being showered on him. this is really a great and inspiring piece ma. God bless you.

  • An inspirational story. As Christians we ought to reach out to the people we are ministering to both physically and spiritually. We should preach Jesus but always tend to the physical need of the people we are ministering to because we don’t know what they are passing through. God bless you ma.

    • Edith Ohaja

And bless you too, my dear!

      • Asogwa Emmanuel C

A beautiful follow up on ziki’s story. Maybe I was a little bit harsh on him in the first part. No other advice is more transformative than when you sit down and tell yourself the hard truth. Above all when you follow Jesus other things you need to thrive will follow you

  • Emmanuel ujevwe

What an amazing lesson, it is clear that Jesus is the answer to everything in life
Money might make people happy but does not guarantee true happiness

  • MBATA CHIEMIKE JEMITA

Very nice story, aunty. No matter the conditions we face in life, there is always hope for the future. I’m happy that Ziki never went back to the girl and decided it was time to be a man. Good for him he ended up finding Christ.

  • Orji Chidiebube Prudence

Ziki’s refusal to return to Yvette was his first right move I’ll say. Yes, a man’s got to be in control… Over some things and if he’s not, he misplaces such power into some other things up to his reach. Yvette actually thought that money could give her everything but thanks to Ziki, she was proved wrong. Which brings me to the fact that the greatest asset one can ever have above all is God! Wonderful work, MA…

    • Edith Ohaja

Praise God! About a man in charge, that is okay as long as he doesn’t act like a tyrant. But absence of that cannot justify abuse. Bless you!

    • Añulika Iwoba

      Wow!!!
      What an epic tale!!!
Absolutely! Ziki couldn’t have made a better decision.
Refusing to go back to Yvette became the one decision that made a turning point in his life. And it’s even more commendable considering how impoverished he was at the time the request came.
This is a takeaway gift for readers because we learn to make careful decisions based on conviction in perilous times.

I don’t quite agree to what Ziki thinks about men being in charge and opting for irresponsible side attractions when their right to be in charge is denied.
I think it would be more accurate to opine that men should never be under the control of a woman through financial strength on the side of the woman. A man should own himself and make decisions bereft of influence from a woman who earns more and who intends to keep him in perpetual servitude.
When such is the case, a man should opt out of the union and retain his self worth than find compensation in immorality.

Yvette is like most women sadly.
She has a good heart, but loose morals.
      But she’s also very sensitive.
I sincerely hope her marriage was not to hurt Ziki but because she found genuine love like Ziki hopes.

This is a beautiful story. I really want to read more of this.
      Thank you!

  • harmony

ziki actually took a wise decision by not going back to yvette and a wiser decision by giving his life to Christ which actually was his his turn around point .is not all the time that u need to preach Christ when inviting some one for a program look at the person psychologically note his need do the part u can n see the person coming to the program.

  • Ologhofor Sampson

I must say am in love with this write up, it reminded me of my secondary school days when stories like this are been told but this particular one is awesome and it went a long way. Thank God for Ziki, thank you ma for the write up.

  • Jenny Joseph

*clears throat* Lol! The boy has grown.he finally received wisdom .Rejecting Yvette was the wisest decision he had ever made in his lifetime!
Believers reading this should take a cue.you can’t preach the gospel to a hungry man.he won’t listen to you! When going for evangelism, put some cash in your bag.. You don’t know who you’ll save through that!
Being in control or not being in control can’t stop what wants to happen from happening!
Babe that wants to cheat will cheat abeg..it’s not about control please!
He should go and sit down. I totally disagree with him on that one

    • Edith Ohaja

Abi oh! What about the men who are very rich, perfectly in control of their wives and still cheating. He is trying to justify the unjustifiable.

  • He actually made a good decision by leaving yvette, because even the bible said a man should be the head of the family and not a helper. And for yvette still waiting….

  • ISAAC NWANNEKA OYIRIDIYA

Wow am so happy for ziki.Thank God he finally accepted Jesus because in him we find everlasting happiness.

  • Nathalie Ukwu

Beautiful ending! This passes on so many messages. For one, money can never buy happiness, suicide is never the answer and it is only in Christ true security can be attained. I’m sure Ziki has learned his lesson. He’ll think twice next time before joining the gigolo bandwagon 🙂

  • Ogota Jennifer Adaeze

not realy the food that inspired Ziki but the luv and care that was shown him.

  • Sylvia Ugwoke

It has a nice ending.I am happy Ziki was able to take the right decision.

  • Agu Ginika Rebecca

This is really an interesting and inspiring story. It aims at teaching one how to cease from relying on anybody because even our most intimate friends or whom we look up to might just decide to turn us down suddenly.
We must be determined in whatever useful or beneficial thing we engage ourselves in, and also learn to face challenges or difficult situations when they stare us at the face or even when we experience them severely.

    Good work, Ma…

  • one who is in Christ is a new creature, am happy this story ended like this if not I would just cry for Zik’s sake, now he is free indeeed

  • Ani Chiamaka Theresa

Ziki z very right not to av returned to Yvette cos she will control every bit of his life afterwards…..I disagree wit ziki in d second qstn cos unfaithfulness can come from anyone not necessarily who controls….nd giving ziki food drew his attention closer to God cos he was surprise dt dia are people who still care about others…happy married lyf to Yvette

  • Nwankwo Anita chinenye

Ziki is so lucky to have met the man who bought him meal that day..which eventually brought him closer to God…am glad he learnt from his previous mistake and didn’t go back to Yvette..so much to be learnt from this piece!

  • Caius Precious Chinwendu

hmmmmmmmmm! Ziki Ziki.. leaving yvette and not going back was the wisest decision Ziki ever made. As the saying goes, a dog never goes back to his vomit. Good thing Ziki kept his dignity. A cheating man is a cheating man, irrespective of his level of control over the woman. For the believers, anytime you embark on an evangelical mission, be more practical than theoretical. When you practice what you came to preach at the first meeting, it would draw your listener’s attention more. plus, suicide is never an option… i wish Yvette a happy married life. And to Aunty Edith, this is a wonderful piece, very inspiring. Thank you, ma.

  • This story is very educative, money is not every thing but God is every thing and even happiness comes from him. honestly, am happy the way the story ended. ziki is now a free man. that shows that God makes impossibility possible.

  • DIM CHIKODIRI VIVIAN

t think Ziki made the right decision by not going back to Yvette. Like he said, what is not yours is not no matter what you do. believing in God always is the best cure for every predicament or situation. it’s better now that he has his own money not Yvette’s money. God’s time is the best. Nice story

  • Fidelis Favour Chiamaka

Ziki made the right decision by not going back to Yvette. He is a man and he should learn to stand on his own. The approach the brother used to convert ziki is really smart. The fact that he hasn’t eaten and a hungry man is an angry man. The brother solved that problem by feeding him and through that he was able to lead him to Christ. My advise to Yvette is that money can’t buy happiness. I really enjoyed reading this story, thank you ma

  • Lawrence Ernest Enyi

I believe his refusal to go back was one step that made him what he became. And No, the food was not all that instrumental cos as a broke nigga and desperate dude, all he needed at that moment was take every option or opportunity that came his way.

Advice for him is that he should pray for Yvette, while he reaches out to other guys that are looking for such opportunities he had.
As for Yvette, all she need right now is Christ. He’s the only one that could make her whole again.

  • Njoku Chioma Grace

Wow! what a wonderful piece. i sure didn’t expect it to end this way but i am very happy that Zik was able to find his feet and the best decision he made was getting to accept Christ who gave him the strength to forgive and let go of Yvette. like he rightly said, in God’s own time, he will be blessed with his own wife, cars and other good things of life. as for Yvette, i really hope she married for the right reasons and not out of spite for Zik or she would have made the worst mistake of her life

  • maduebo ifunanya blessing

He took the right decision by not going back Yvette. And for Yvette, she needs to accept Jesus as her personal lord and saviour for her to be whole again.

  • onoh chiazo johanness

The decision he made not to go back was a tough one but am glad he made it. God Is the author and finisher of our faith we just need to pray, work hard and God will control the rest
nice one ma, u are indeed blessed

  • ohakwe oluchi judith

The preacher’s attitude is a typical example of the word of God in James which says “when you visit the hungry give him money or food not prayer because that is what they need at point in time”…God is really a merciful God, he forgives when one make a sincere u-turn. I’m glad Ziki found the Lord and made his way right, and the lord blessed him without adding sorrow… Remain blessed, ma, for this piece. it really made a positive impact in my life.

  • Otti Uzoma Augusta

Thank God for you Ziki, yeah you are moving forward and you will definitely get to your peak.
A man might overcompensate if he doesn’t contribute reasonably(income-wise) but definitely not by cheating!Yvette will surely be happy so you need not bother and make sure you start taking good care of mama

  • Nonike Victoria N.

oh my! thank God for his love, its wonderful to know that Ziki made the right decision and became saved. wonderful story ma!

  • Awoke Isaiah Kelechi

having the full understanding that no condition is permanent, we should learn not to depend on anyone for survival.

  • UGWU, CHINAGOROM JOSEPH

Honestly, i like the end of this story. It is inspiring and lesson-packed. To be in comfort of another man’s or woman’s wealth may make you forget that you need to earn for yourself and be established. What’s not yours is not yours no matter how long you have been with it or used it. Ziki was compelled by the situation to learn humility. This worked out the way for him.

  • Agi Comfort Obahi

Happy he never returned back to Yvette’s house that has thought him the lesson to work hard for your own thing and he knows what it means to spend money…. I like the approach of the the guy sharing the flyers that’s the best way to show God’s love.. Nice work

  • Edeh cynthia oluomachi

this story is actually an encouragement that God is the author and finisher of our faith, with God in our lives every thing moves smoothly. the Lord is your strength ma…. I really enjoyed this

  • onyeabor ijeoma Rita

oh! no, i just wish it could go on and on… that was really interesting. Ziki took the right decision in not going back to Yvette because he doesnt feel anything for her. Love is when you remove the romance in a relationship and still feel like being with that person. Every stage in our life is a lesson, God sometimes allows things to happen so that we can learn from them and also teach others, like the brother who lured ziki into coming for his church programme. As for Yvette, i hope she later ends up with a real man this time who loves her for who she is and not for what she has. Matthew 6: 33 seek ye first the kingdom of God every other thing shall be added unto you. Ziki got what he needed when he sought the face of God, he realized that real happiness does not come from wealth, i pray that Yvette realizes the same and finds the face of God. Ma’am, your words have touched a lot of lives, more than you can imagine. May the good Lord continue using you as an instrument of change to the nation. Amen.

  • udeh bessing

I love the fact that Ziki faced the world like a man wtih the help from above. That is what GRACE can do. And I pray he remains there.

    • Edith Ohaja

I pray this too for all those who recently found the Lord and those who have been in Him for long and are being buffeted by temptation. You are awesomely blessed in Jesus’ name.

  • ifeoma mordi

Ziki made the right decision of not going back to Yvette, because the kind of relationship they had was toxic and unhealthy for both of them. At least ziki is now making effort to do something for him self and be useful.

  • UGWUOTA DELISE PHILOMENA

when one door closes, another opens. love is very sweet when it is real or coming from a genuine heart. Thank God that he didnt go back to her if not it could have been worse than before. what is not yours is not yours and can never be yours no matter how you try, it is just a matter of time, be wise and seek first the kingdom of GOD so that you would be able to find favour in his sight, finding the FACE OF GOD is the most important thing that ever happened to him. i love him for his action towards GOD AND even wish Yvette the same joy and happiness he found in Christ.

  • Opara Stella Chidindu

Hilarious and interesting story Ma, i am glad he finally found the light and began to see life in a different way (which always pays off in the long run). I admire Zik’s humility and i thank God for using Tare to re-direct his path. God indeed works in mysterious ways.

    • Edith Ohaja

Did Tare really redirect Ziki’s path? He was a friend in need no doubt but I think it was Ziki’s encounter with God that changed his life. Cheers!

  • Ezenwa Obinna G.

Ziki may not have had the opportunity to encounter Christ if he had returned. Sometimes we face challenges in life without knowing what God has in store for us. I learnt so much lessons in this wonderful story. Humility is another outstanding quality that made way for Ziki. I strongly believe that if not for his repentance, he would not have consented taking the job of a serving boy in mama’s philo’s shop which was actually a stepping stone to his greatness. To this end, I thank God for him.

    • Edith Ohaja

And I thank God for you. Keep shining the light of Christ and be richly blessed during these holidays in Jesus’ name.

  • ugwublessingchinenye

Zik made the right decision by not going back to his old way of life. He endured all the pains and sufferings and this brought a turn around of good to him.

  • Egwuonwu Priscilla

Thank God. After reading the first part i had this innate feeling that there was a great but helpless angel in Ziki. Am glad he let go of his evil ways and excessive love for money a d I’m also impressed with his determination and hardwoork. It finally paid off

  • Ndubuisi Uchenna

Ziki was right not to return to Yvette else he would have been a pampered slave like he rightly said. Good for him he finally found Jesus

  • Ewa Chiamaka

This is a story for those who have lost hope..there’s still a miracle to come..Thank God ziki didn’t go back to yvette..it would have been another story.

  • Ene Esther

Wow. Ziki was right not to go back to Yvette even though life with her was paradise. Now that he has found God I advise him to let nothing pull him away cos he will never regret it

  • Ikenna precious

Nice story, ma. i think Ziki was right not to have gone back to Yvette, but to stick to his decision. Even though he faced some hardship, he persevered. It really illustrates the saying, “though sorrow lasts for the night, joy comes in the morning”.

  • Oleru Precious

Ziki refusing to go back to Yvette means that he had realized that he was just her puppet and he had to take charge of his own life. Taking charge of his life led to him giving his life to Christ and we all can see the outcome of that.

  • Luke chinyere

The wisest thing for anybody to do in the face of indecision is to cleave on to dignity and Ziki did it right this time. Well, I believe relationships should be built on love and not on control or superiority, that partners or couples should work hand in hand to help and strengthen their relationship. Yes, the offer of food to Ziki was the catalyst that fastened his salvation and I wish to say congratulations to him for holding on and not allowing the devil to tempt him into going back to that unhealthy relationship. To Yvette congratulations!

  • Honestly, what is not yours is not yours no matter how you are allow to use it.it is better and more comfortable to struggle for the one you will call your own for noting gives happiness like being independent. i love ziki’s decision. enlightening story ma, thanks and remain bless.

  • Ziki! Ziki! Ziki! What a wonderful decision. Relationships don’t always come easy, and making that call to remain or not when one should quit is harder still. Like Ziki, how many of us if this situation comes, will be ready to make that call and breakup that shackle that binds us, threatening to hold us down till we are one? It might be better tomorrow some might say, but I believe that such delicate things that concerns a person’s emotion and heart are more important that the promise of a better tomorrow that may never come. And ZIki made that call to flee from the monster. A good decision, more so better, and the best for him. Nice story Ma. Absolutely enriching.

  • ALEGU SOLOMON CHIDI

I really thank God for Tare whom he has prepared to connect Ziki to his destiny helper. I like the way this story ended because there are a lot of moral and biblical lessons embedded in it. It is always good to commit our ways to God and lean not in our own understanding. God bless Aunty EDITH OHAJA.

  • Abugu Nkemjika Edith

The choice we make in life can change our life forever or destroy it, Zik made the choice to turn towards God and have a new life.

  • OKEKE CHINONYE

The story quite ended well. Ziki sure did the right thing by not going back; thanks to patience as God had better things planned out for him

  • UGAMA GLORIA NKECHINYERE

There is nothing as good as patience, it is a virtue one has to possess. Thank God for Ziki’s determination and patience

  • Gerald

    Intriguing piece, i must confess…..
at some point i really thought Ziki would accept Yvett’s proposal, trust me, it was a tempting one. His refusal however should be regarded as brave. Nothing compares to freedom, because his stay in Yvett’s cou;d be regarded as ‘pleasurable improsonment’.

  • Jeremiah Chioma Juilet

YAH! he’s all grown up. Once again a beautiful story

  • Ikwuakam Oluchi

God really does not consider a person’s past before blessing such a one as long as you turn from your sins, The little beginning of a man is a ladder to his success in life, therefore do not despise it. Well done ma.

  • Agada chinenyenwa Lucy

Wow ,nice story ma,I learnt in this story that we should not be carried away by material things, that what is not yours ,is not yours on matter how much you are allowed to use it,this occurred in the relationship between ziki and Yvette and I believed that God’s time is the best ,it only required persistence and patience

  • Abugu Chinazom

Wow…nice piece. I’m glad that Ziki had the courage to pick his life back, reject Yvette’s offer to return and be her ‘slave’ again, get himself a job and above all, turn his life to knowing and serving God. This is truly a lesson for everyone, don’t depend solely on people, the offer you get may expire one day…so, try to be your own boss.

  • ABONYI CHISOM. E.

All thanks to God that Ziki at last became a man of his own, he was also strong to overcome the temptation of going back to Yvette, and also patience to the difficulties he faced and worked hard to survive it.
Wow! I love this story, God always gives us a second chance.

  • Henry

‘In every dissapointment, lies blessing’ they do say. Yvette chasing Ziki was timely. It got him out of his comfort zone(of stupidity anyways) to his discomfort zone, which made him know he had to Man up. When one lurks around his comfort zone, he misses the success that lie wait in his discomfort zone. Thank God for salvation.

  • Akuma Victor

Could the offer of food to Ziki have been inspired and instrumental to getting him to church?

i believe it did. It is God’s purpose that he attends the programme and that’s why he made available every possible means to ensure that he comes. this simply means that when ever God remembers one, he does everything possible to see to the person’s greatness

  • Iroegbu Chinatu Amara

Wow! The end was really worth it.Am glad that ziki realized that he was a man and didn’t go back to Yvette. Now he has salvation and wealth. Who says God isn’t awesome?? Great ending ma!

  • ugochukwu ogwu

Another nice piece ma. Ziki made the right choice by not going back because she was with her head when she kicked him out at first now God has blest him. He should enjoy and forget her

  • Nweke Jemimah Chisom

Really, what is not yours can never be yours no matter how long you are allowed to use it. great lesson! its a good thing that ziki was able to find his way to God. thanks to that brother. the gospel doesn’t always have to be verbal, sometimes, we need to add good works! nice work ma

  • Ifebunandu Angela Chimerie

Sometimes in life it takes bad experiences to show you exactly who you are. Ziki has finally understood that what is not yours can never be yours no matter how hard to try to hold on to it.
I’m glad he found God and I know God will elevate him more
God bless you ma for your eye opening stories

  • Onyibalu kosisochukwu Maureen

    Nice story ma
I’m really glad ziki didn’t go back to Yvette because he would have missed out on a lot of things that God has in stock for him and he would have continued to be a really pampered slave
    Best of luck to him

  • ugochukwu ogwu

Another wonderful piece ma. I love the fact that ziki didn’t go back to yvette shebi she drove him away in sane mind so she now has no place with him

  • ofodile chinenye

very interesting story ma and a great lesson learnt from it too. from this story we can see that nothing good comes easy and great things start from small. am glad that Zik was able to accept Jesus Christ in to his life and realize that with him all things are possible.

  • Anyadubalu Oluchi Maryrose

Nice piece/ i’m so glad about Zik’s resolution, the courage to pick up his life and understand that it is not the end for him.
It is important that we learn how to be our own boss, be independent. This was seen on how he decided not to be a slave to Yvette any longer,he picked up his life, got himself a good job, and above all maintained a good relationship with Christ.

  • Ezeh onyekachukwu christiantus

Money cannot buy happiness, I believe that true happiness comes from having cordial relationship with God. Ziki found true happiness when he gave his life to Christ.. This is a beautiful story.

  • Ziki’s decision to take up his responsibility and to draw close to God was a turning point for him, I’m glad he finally realized his shortcomings and gave life it’s best shot.

  • God does not need two years or weeks to change a man’s story. Your transformation can come any moment. God’s mercy is great. Am happy Ziki met God and was transformed. Thank God, he saw what life has to offer outside luxury. Awesome one Ma. More Grace.

  • I believe that things happen in life for a reason, so Ziki leaving Yvette’s house was a blessing in disguise and the best part of the story is that he finally met Jesus who turned his life around…God is ever ready to accept us even at our worst.
    Nice one here ma

  • Ene Kosisochukwu Zita

To begin with, I have to fault a couple of things in Ziki’s life before I congratulate him.
His ignorance of the fact that you don’t know the essence of what you’ve got until you lose it. Secondly you have no source of livelihood but you don’t think of living withing your means untill job comes. But meeting Tare made them two soldiers on the same struggle which is good for him as a man who wants to be in control.

  • Izuogu Ozioma Precious

In this, I can say that a downfall of a man is never the end of his life. Because no matter all the challenges Ziki faced he still found his way out to get a job. I leant that what is not yours is not no matter how long you are allowed to use it and some situation will make one to be in peace with God.

  • Vanessa Ezenwafor

I thank God for Ziki.. He made the best choice.. At least he manned up finally..
I also thank God for his new life.. God really used suffering to draw him closer to Him
Indeed, God’s plan for us is really for good and not evil

  • In life, everything happens for a reason. Most times, when we run around, we forget that there is a higher power somewhere. Zik realizing this and turning to God was the best thing he could have done and Im happy he didnt regret it.
    Nice one again.

  • Nnamani Eunice chiidnma

This is a very nice story, I would say that zik took the right decision by not going to that woman called Yvette, and he also made a very good decision by not going to that woman called Yvette, and he also made a very good decision by accepting Christ into his life. I also believe his refusal to go back made him what he became.

  • Vanessa Ezenwafor

I thank God for Ziki. he made the best decision of not going back to her
At least, he manned up. I also thank God for his new life in Christ. God really used the suffering to draw him closer to Him. Indeed, His plans for us are for good and not evil.

  • Ezeorah Cynthia Somtochukwu

Ziki, refusing Yvette’s proporsal to come back to her after facing problems both financially and psychologically, I must say he must have learnt his lesson that nothing good comes easily.

  • Ezugwu ogochukwu

Most things that happens in our life happens for a reason for a reason .

  • In this second leg of the story, I see that there is danger in every comfort zone. Yvette’s interest and pursuit of Ziki brought out the man in him. On the other hand, Ziki leaving her is also some kind of blessing in disguise. For me, the story peaked the moment these situations led the young man to Jesus who, in His usual character, turned things around for him. Nice story. thanks for sharing.

  • Chidinma Obasi

Although, God’s divine plans for one’s life may tarry but will surely come to past…So, for Yvette asking Ziki to leave her house, and for Ziki complying was all for his divine encounter with Jesus which automatically changed his book of life…Aunty Edith, you are doing a nice work more Grace!

  • Chidera

Wow, wasn’t expecting this but he finally started reasoning like a man. His decision was the best although it took him time it it would have been an insult to him if he went back to er. Nice story ma

  • Agugbua Chisom.

wow. Nice piece. I think ziki was right in refusing to go back to Yvette. It is important to know that what is not yours will never be yours no matter what. Also where there is a will there is a way. The story was beautiful.

  • AJIBO chioma

What an amazing Post MA ziki’s decision to choose God over his girlfriend was a very good step towards having a better like

  • Chekuzo veronica

Oh wow its a good thing God arrested him and he is even now a better man than he was. God has a way of turning things around if we could just trust him. I enjoyed the story though.

  • Chukwuma Chekwube jennifer

Most thing that happen s in our life happen for a reason

  • Amaobi Precious

Wow! I’m actually speechless. This is really beautiful. I’m happy for Ziki and his changed life. What I learnt: that’s one effective, practical way of winning a soul to the Lord. Its awesome. Always look to solve a need and spread the gospel through it. Very wonderful story, Ma. Thanks a lot.

  • Ibe Chinwe Cynthia

Ziki couldn’t have made a better choice, his leaving Yvette was his first step towards progress. Quite alright he seemed to have been living in comfort but that comfort cost him more than he could imagine. Pity he had to learn the hard way. It may look like time is being wasted but in the end his hardwork will pay. If he could learn a skill alongside, it would go a long way in helping him. It’s a beautiful thing he got to know God.

  • Peace onoja

Thank God he learnt his lessons early enough. I bet some people would return to the lady. This is really an educative story. I love it! More grace ma.

  • Akogu Juliet Aniema

God does his things in his own way and time. I am so glad how ziki took the bold step of attending to the church invitation and after words, his life changed. This is a great write up ma…thumbs up

  • obianyimuo chinaza blessing

wow…i really enjoy these story, it really reflect in my life..i love the way ziki took boldly step to progress,
and how he made up his mind to fellow God…i really enjoy the story,,our god is a merciful father is ready to accept sinner back..nice work aunty edith

  • Analike, Vivian U

I love it when men decide to be men. Ziks refusals to go back to his ex girlfriend’s house was a bold step and that actually brought him the good fortune he is enjoying now. What would have been his fate if he had moved back to her? Well, I believe that what is ours will always manifest in due time.

  • Afiadigwe Nnedinso Rita

I believe that there is a reason for what ever happens.Ziki would not have discovered that there is a need for him to hustle and be independent until what transpired between him and his girlfriend Yvette.

  • Joseph Edidiong

LOL! i love the new Ziki. certain events in life happens for our own benefit, we might not realise it now but as we move further in life, we get to appreciate those events. i really love the fact that he rejected the offer to return to his past and his decision to be a man.

  • Okorie Adaora Nneoma

Ziki made a right decision not to go back after he was thrown out by Yvette because it led to his turning to Christ which made all his distress become a thing of the past……Thank God for his life……. God bless you ma..

  • Unwana Ekere

    Fascinating and intriguing!
These stories define ‘Grace ‘ at its peak because everything that happened in Ziki’s life was for a reason. God is the only author and finisher of our faith so therefore we shouldn’t fully rely on anyone for provision but try to invest and work hard for our future.
Thanks to the guy who understood the true definition soul-wining. God is really awesome.
One word for Yvette ‘Thanks for building a strong Ziki ‘

  • ewurum john

waaaoow! this is beautiful……the story reveals the fact that we shouldnt give up when life hits us hard, or show us her negative sides, i feel its what eventually makes us stronger as well as strengthens our vision, Zik as illustrated, portrays the fact, despite the challenges, he explored all avenues to avoid being dwindled or swept off his feet. Once again, this is really a nice piece ma.

  • Ibute kosisochukwu nina

Zik decided to be a man n act like one by deciding not go brk to his ex… Dats a great move for him… I love dat

  • Onwuka Chinaecherem Emmanuel

ziki made a wise decision not to go back to Yvette; if it would’ve been he did so, he would’ve been running round same circle till the end of his life; being fed by a woman & supposedly not making good use of the money given to him.
The man with the flyer in his own little way evangelised to ziki, this is one thing most people get wrong you mustn’t bombard one with sermons which to him or her would be cliché, most times it takes just a little deed to convert an unbeliever.

  • Onwuania adaora p

Ziki did the right thing by not going back to yvette even after she called him back, who knows she might send him out again if he keeps on coming back. Gods time is the best and also money is not everything in a man’s life.

  • Stephen Rosemary Ibibo

i think ziki made the right decision and a wise one, Its a very nice story

  • RACHAEL OBIORA

ziki really made a wise decision of not going back. he stood up to be a man and take responsibility for himself and not depend on a lady’s money and God opened his way. there is nothing as sweet as accepting and serving the LORD it really pays because he will definitely make a way for you.

  • Onyeka pamela chiamaka

That was a great move from Ziki by not moving bak to yvettte and trying to stand on his own as a man. But nothing justifies cheating or abusing a woman. For yvettte I pray she will find happiness someday and she might actually be happy in d marriage irrespective of what Ziki thinks

  • keswet mercy

In life perseverance matters more in order to achieve success…Ziki decision although quite a tough one paid off with a good results, the action you take today has an effect tomorrow. Definitely life comes with it struggle, up’s and down but our ability to push further is what matters most

  • Stephen Rosemary ibibo

Aunty Edith this story is a bomb i really enjoyed it, my comment is that I like that ziki didn’t go back to the girl. Bt pls I don’t support physical abuse no matter the reason behind it , thank u ma

  • Oweka Chioma Sandra

Haha. Glad to know that Ziki finally realized that life isn’t all sugar and chocolate.
    He’d be alright.

  • osuagwuchiamaka

wow! thank God he ended up being a born again christian. not all can realize their mistakes, and decide not to go back

  • Uwaegbuonu Precious

ziki made a wise decision by not going back,, it would have being to his disadvantage if he did because she would have done worse things to him.
sometimes we should just be strong no matter. some people are facing certain issues like this but they feel they cannot do without this person its not true .. take that step today.

  • Chika Divine Umunnakwe

The story is indeed a moral lesson for all. Is quiet challenging. Ziki is completely right in refusing to go back to Yvette ( a lady that sees wealth as love)

No! I strongly disagree with Ziki idea. A man can be in control through better means and not by cheating or physically abusing his woman. such men who abuse by that means are known to be coward and not courage.
No, i don’t think so. The giver man was honestly compassionate. He had such experience of poverty and knows how it feels.

Ziki should serve His creator in church, his creator ( Jesus) who loves him more than any lady could do. In Jesus Ziki would have peace, love, supply and care. Ziki must apologise and forgive Yvette. Ziki should not go back to his past and he should be able to help other youth living such a reckless life

Yvette should go back to Jesus and she would find love beyond seasonal pleasure. Her wealth could fly one day or she will keep losing her peace while struggling to do it herself.

  • Covenant

In life everything happens for a reason.
Life is a process and taking time to understand this process is very important.
If ziki had not been kicked out he won’t understand the process of “hard work”.
If the things he bought had not finished under 2 weeks won’t understand the process of “managing”
If his money had not finished he won’t understand the process of “salvation”
Am glad he made it. This is a beautiful story I really got good inspiration from it.

  • chidera odo

Lol, this one ended like a Nigerian movie.
    thank God for zik..
For him not to have accepted to go back to Yvette is a stepping stone.he realised that he needed to hustle and be something on his own….
Assuming he went back to Yvette, what next partying smoking, drinking clubingbut thankGod for delivering this youngman

  • Amarachi Deborah Ugwu

chaiiiiii that decision is really a tough one, where would Ziki go to? He took a huge decision by not going back, but you know what? It the right decision, it takes a brave heart to stand on that decision and Ziki has shown to be one. Nice one ma

  • Izukah chinonso favour

Ziki did well to move on with his life and not going back to his past it was a huge decision and i applaud him for that. And it has taught us a lesson that wealth is not love. Well done ma

  • Ugwu Amarachi Chinemerem

I really enjoyed the story, it was a nice decision for zik not to go back after she kicked him out, you should really know when a person doesn’t want you so you don’t force it, i also disagree with him, there is no excuse for cheating, we all have a choice in life and we have control over our feelings so if you choose to misbehave, you really meant it

  • Atudume B. Chinwendu

Sure that was the right thing to do, if he had gone back, he would have continued living a life of slavery. A cheating guy remains one no matter what, when a guy has no respect for his woman the abuse get even worst when he is the one in control. It is said that one good turn deserves another, the food bought for ziki played a role of applying to his conscience, it actually propelled him to have a change of mind. Now that ziki has become a real man by facing his challenges he should learn not to transfer his aggression to some other innocent girl.

  • Anigbo Chisom anastesia

The downfall of a man is not the end of his greatness, but it will be his end to that greatness when he has refuse to rise again. It shall he well with him and I am recomemding this story to the guys out there who has the same fate with zik…
    God bless you ma

  • Great ending. I wish it continued. Thank God Ziki came back to his senses.

  • Ugwu Kosisochukwu Ifunanya

Ziki was right by not going back to Yvette but I disagree with whathe he said that men must always be in control. The preacher giving him food showed that he cared for Ziki. For every Yvette out there I pray you find happiness.
Thank you Ma for this story filled with moral lessons.

  • Maduabuchi Ebube Deborah

Ziki my dear…..I told you that is even a good thing that Yvette chased you out at least it made you to work on your self…..but believe me this God is awesome, just three month and he already lifted you like this……you see…sometimes we don’t like going to fellowship because of one thing or the other but you dnt know what God holds for us there……..am happy for Yvette for her new home…..ziki ziki my nigga ,well let me be watching you sha……..ma I am really enjoying this story oooo thank you soooo much for making my day with your post…..

  • Joana Ushie

Woww am so happy, finally Ziki has become the man he ought to be. Shey you see that handwork pays Abi. May jah bless your hustle my man.

  • Ekeh chioma Jennifer

Zik bro, u for wait make I tell u wetin to do na…haha am glad you choose to turn a new leaf and cling to your maker. Everything we do in life plays a significant role in our life, it can either make or mar us. Am glad zik accepted his new found job with a humble hrt. This story is very educating, thanks ma

  • onyema bright

beutiful!!! what a twist of fortune.never expected mr playboy(ziki) to come out this good this is to show that every man has this in -born potential to be a success in life who would have thought ziki would have found purpose even in his state of despair.i particularly love the part where he openly rejected Yvette request to come back to her this shows how determined he was to carve a niche for himself and thank God he found christ when he did………who knows what would have been his faith if he hadn’t?

  • Ebreso Benjamin Bassey

Ziki chose wisely by not going back to her, now that he is successful, I suggest he faces his new life starting off with the disposal of the memory of someone.

  • Okereafor, Cynthia Uchechi

I think this is a predestination; it is prearranged by God to bring Ziki to Him. Secondly, God wanted to inspire him to pursue his life and not depend on his girl friend for everything. The Creativity in the Story is just very nice. Thank You, Ma

  • Rahman Peace Taiye

Good one Ziki!!. Jesus is the only way to go. Thank God he(Ziki) came back to his senses. The devil always tries to look for ways to bring us down but with Jesus, we get to experience only good and things.

  • Ike Ruby Olachi

wow, nice twist to the story. God really makes all things beautiful and see how he is adorning and beautifying ziki’s life. I must commend him for not being bitten twice “once bitten, twice shy ” for standing up to himself and being a man, for working hard and saying no to being a play thing. Hard work really pays.

  • Rose Jonathan

This is exactly how evangelism should be done! Imagine if all the Evangelist had to offer was just mere promises of God’s faithfulness, I bet he would have lost a soul. Thank God for wisdom and the Holy spirit who always directs. This piece is amazing, ma.

  • Attamahchidiogogeorginah

we should always learn from our mistakes because as the goes one beaten by rain twice is shy.i commend zik on the way he handled the situation by changing in the way he lived before and turning to God

  • Udeh favour makuachukwu

Awww.. This is a very nice story I am really touched. God has a plan for us even while we are yet sinners. I am really happy that God found him and re-arranged his life

  • ONUOHA DIANA

zik is really in a dilemma but he has made the right choice to go for the service even if it is because of food. i admire his not going back to his gigolo lifestyle. i agree that every man should take responsibility for his life and not be dependent on a woman or anyone but God. i see hope for zik and for everyone who has come to that point in their life where they say: i need to be in control and take charge of my life.

  • MOKOGWU JOSEPHINE

I Think Ziki did the right thing for the record the guy has integrity which also matters, A man has to be in control to an extent ,i mean he is the head in the family obviously but that does not give him the right to abuse a woman verbally or physically, well, the food motivated him somehow to attend the church programme. Ziki should be faithful to God and he should always seek God in everything because God’s love for his children is unconditional, as for Yvette, she should not repeat what she did in her past relationship but she should be careful too.

  • Eze Valentine Chibuike

Condition changes unexpectedly sometimes. It’s wise he refused Yvette’s second offer. he really had to understand the struggle out there so that he would appreciate every bit of good fortune that presents itself and so that he would not look down on any job possibility again. As Yvette get money, na her pocket na. No be only she dey wey carry cash. I wouldn’t even want to be in Ziki’s initial position of being well fed but unreal.

  • Orji blessing chidubem

Well ziki’s decision not to go back later turned out good for him but I think most people would have gone back to their former life. And as for being in control, a man is always the head of the house no matter what he takes control but even without being in control,it doesn’t mean he will cheat nor abuse the wife…all those has to do with psychological grooming and self control I believe.
If not for that food,I don’t think ziki would have actually gone to the church, that was God working in a little but awesome way.
Am glad ziki has changed and now a born again Christian and I hope he tries to help Yvette in bringing her and her new family closer to Christ.

  • Adonu Ifeanyichukwu B

Ziki’s distress is a must read for everyone especially all the toy boys in our society. I’m actually happy that even in his most difficult moment after he left Yvette’s house, he was not tempted by her offer to go back to her house again to be used as a play thing. I also admire his courage at taking up low jobs at a very low pay after he gave his life to God. Thank God his orientation about life has changed.

  • Nnorom Wisdom

Not going back was the best decision that ziki could make, through I think he shouldn’t have to resort to being a jigolo in the first place.
Lord knows there are lots of job opportunities out there. Lol, kidding, I know it’s a story. But once again, I love the way the character’s circumstances are structured with a way out created for him or her and the emotional and spiritual journey he undertakes.

  • Nnakwe uchenna

Can’t say I like the character. I understand the predicament he faces but feel non pulsed about his experience.
He should go back to the Yvette woman, it’s not like he’s a real man, the character had lost his manhood the very day he decided to be a jigolo.

  • Udeobasi Ngozi B.

What a wonderful story, I’m happy Ziki is now beginning to face reality. Moving into a woman’s house and practically doing nothing but sit idly and receive salary was idiotic in the first place. That opportunity would have been an avenue to establish himself and become independent but instead he wasted the money on clothes and women.
What has happened has happened and Ziki was right to have refused to go back to Yvette after being thrown out. That shows he is beginning to face reality and stand up to the circumstances facing him.
The offer of food was not inspired and instrumental to getting him to church because judging from the story line; he already agreed to come even before the situation that brought about the food came up. But yeah, the food helped to convince him of the man’s good heart and as such lure him to the church.
To ziki, I will say a big congrats to the new found life and he should continue being focused on his dreams rather than looking for a host to depend on like a parasite.

Nice one ma, this story reflects our everyday life, its also quite different from other stories am also happy that zik is able to face reality as so of us would do, thank you ma for this post.

  • onu victor tochukwu

I so much love Ziki’s boldness in saying no to yvette when she asked him back. some decisions may be difficult to make but when made can turn life around for us. If he didn’t make that decision he wouldn’t have been a born again, he wouldnt be able to stand on his own to make his own decisions. Temptations fcome with a very huge taste but disastrous on the short run but when we overcome it success won’t be far from us.

  • Nwabuike onyinyechi

This story is really nice and it also talks contentment, it’s actually a good thing that ziki didn’t embarrass himself by going back to Yvette. Sometimes it takes a good thing to win someone over to you, if the man had not gotten ziki that meal, he may not gone for the program and you may not know the miracle that awaits you over there.

  • Ezugwu Ogochukwu

Most things that happen in our lives happens for a reason

  • Ayigbo Chineme Edna

I think Ziki was right in refusing to go back to Yvette. Yes I totally agree that a man has got to be in control in a relationship. Well I think it wasn’t only the offer of food that was instrumental to getting Ziki to church. I advice Ziki to keep on and of course I am happy with the lessons he has learnt in life and where he is now and of course his his relationship with God.

  • Oleighibe Oluebube Tessy

hmm. I’m happy that Ziki got hold of himself, though, I was against him in part 1. I can’t believe Yvette called him back and he rejected the offer, wow, God bless his hustle.
the part I love so much, is when the flyer guy who preaches the gospel approached him, what an act! I’ll love to encourage Christians all over the world to emulate this act, how can one be hungry and explains his distress to you and you start with the preaching of how Jesus died on the cross?? It’s not just right.
This story is really great, thank you Ma, God bless you ma for blessing us with this story, which doesn’t just entertains but also teaches, advises and guides us on how to live a good life. thank you so very much.

  • Ezeudu Chioma

We learn from challenges and problems either the hard way or the easy way.. What Yvette did was wrong but still it served as a wake up call to Ziki to grow up.
We should learn from it to too, we won’t always find things easy in life.Tare also did well by accommodating Ziki for a long time, such friends are hard to comeby.

  • Nwele Euphemia Uzoamaka

Ziki did take the right decision by not going back. Yvette though, was his inspiration to realisation, if not for the push she gave him he would still had been a slave to her emotions.
its amazing what people can do when they get an unexpected push
    nice one, as always ma.

  • Joseph joy

Interesting ! What is not yours is not yours no matter how you use it. Ziki took the best decision by not going back. He should continue in his new life founded in Jesus.

  • Essien Anietie Archibong

Enjoyed the story so much. I’m so happy Ziki was matured enough not to go back to the woman that sent him out and found Christ at the end.

  • Theresa

So this guy even get sense after all? So he knows about dignity now bah? Well thank God he has come to realize. Well I won’t say if the offer of food was what inspired him, it jus aided in enabling his decision faster..
Well thank God he has found Christ and things are gradually turning around for him, that’s the ultimate..
And for Yvette, I jus hope she also find Christ, becos its only in him one can find true happiness…
    Tanx Ma for Sharing

    • Onyia Queendaline Ngozi

Problem shared is problem solved. Ziki after he shared his problems with the flyer sharer got a meal. In this life, suicide can never be the height of a problem solution, rather the after life is being faced.

  • EKPEMANDU DOMINICA NNEKA

This is an interesting story ma, the story has many to impact to human life, Ziki is strong and courageous because he didn’t go back to Yvette, it is always good to learn from what happened to you which Ziki did. It is not good for a man to rely on a woman’s wealth, YES, the woman ought to help but not being the pillar. Ziki suffered a lot which i am happy that he later chose to be with the great consoler, his almighty father. I pray Yvette will later find the Mr right.

  • IBEH CHIAMAKA

Wow! The moment ziki left Yvette’s house was the turning point in his life and his decision not to go back to her was very wise. If he had gone back to Yvette’s house, he would have remained her slave and she can still decide to throw him out any time she wants but, it didn’t happen that way. Meeting God changed everything about his life.

  • Nwata Blessing Chinyere

    Interesting one!
His decisions never to back to Yvette was best. He realised his mistakes and learnt from them.
He had found life in Christ, let him continue and more of his blessings shall come his way.
Money can’t buy happiness,it is only in Christ one finds happiness.

  • Njoku chiamaka Constance

Nice one, moving out turned the boy into a man. Took the challenges life threw at him to build his experience and world. Most importantly, he became a born again christian.
This applies to everyone both male and female that we should not depend on a rich partner to pay our bills while we sit back and do nothing, cause one day, they will turn off their tap and live us.

  • Sunday Ezekwesiri Daniel

Ziki took the right decision by refusing to return back to yvette. My advice for him is to stick to his new found faith in Christ. Things will surely turn right for him.

  • Ezema Chidiebere Blessing

zik has fogotting that one who pays the piper dictte the tune, he is supposed to dance to any to any tune the girl dictate as he does want to be a man but to live at others mercy. some ladies are also like zik, a man will be showing them true love not knowing that the lady is for sanother man. some people who lives this kind of life are always confuse, even the money they earn through this means are allways used carelessly without been investedi anything.

  • Onah Chiamaka Geraldine

What is not urs is not urs no matter how u are allowed to use it! Glad Ziki realised this and started working towards making his own money and being a man on his own.

  • Nwosu chinwendu favour

    This story is wonderful !
Am very glad that ziki did not go back, thank God for the man that made her realize that love really exist , sometimes our actions inspires others we have to be careful with our dealings with people

  • This is simply amazing! Thank God Ziki triumphed over the temptation of going back because that’s equal to backwardness. The new person he is now with God on his side is simply wonderful.

  • Amaefunah Angel

A very inspirational piece. Zikki made a wise decision and this showed how mature and intune in christ he was

  • Onovoh Adaeze J.

What an inspiring piece. When people have virtually everything handed to them at their beck and call, it makes them very immature in handling serious issues. Ziki, for instance, only became matured in handling life issues only when he tasted the other side of life.

  • Charles chisom vincentia

Ziki made the right choice .it was time to find his feet. When God wants to elevate a person he has to go through hard processes.

  • Njoku Chineme Evelyn

This story really has a lot of lessons to it. Ziki took the right decision by not moving back in with Yvette because even if she doesn’t see him staying in her house as anything , it is belittling . Everything they say, happens for a reason and it is at that point we get our favours from God . Thank God Ziki took that bold step by following the messenger. Though i feel like the food was what drew him to the church. The preacher used this method to win a soul because the usual “brethren give your life to Christ ” is getting old and boring and people really don’t want to hear that again.

  • Egbukwu ogechi

Ziki made the right decision… Nothing good comes easy

  • Martins Kingsley Tobechi

Ziki was right in refusing to go back to Yvette because that was going to make him think less of his capabilities

  • Ugwu Gabriel

Kudos to you ma for this fabulous short story, it really enhanced me to use my own discretion in dealing with things that matters. At last, after all difficulties encountered by Zik, he was able strong to overcome them.

  • Ezemobi Chika

He made à good decision by making such a bold step and he is an inspiration to many

  • The story is fabulous I must comment. We need to be patience as Ziki did and also have the decisive mind to let go of the past as he did as well. Also trusting in God

  • Onoyima juliet

I love Zikis’s courage by deciding not to go back to the lady that kicked him out. With God all things are possible

  • Abugu faith Chinecherem

Nice story. As far as am concerned it is not good for a man to depend on a woman. So the way Ziki refused to return back to Yvette house is good and it helped him a lot both financially and spiritually.

  • Epunam obianuju

ziki made a grievous mistake at first by agreeing to Yvette’s term of being paid for dating her, he should have at least stood his grounds and told Yvette that even if they would go into a relationship, he has to get a job. But am glad that he finally corrected his mistakes.

  • Wow wonderful I wasnt expecting this, after reaadig”zik’s distress 1′. God is good, look how he turned a Playboy into a responsible and God fearing man. Zik indeed came in contact with grace. And he did a good job by sending money to his mother in the first instance, most people wouldn’t care.

  • As a man ziki wasnt supposed to depend on a woman which he didn’t do by telling Yvutee that he won’t return to her house Although ziki made a mistake initially but still he corrected his mistakes

  • Victor nzubechi abundance

Zika did the right thing by not going back to Yvette. Atimes we make decisions that are not favourable to us but they just have to be made. Thanks for the write-up aunty Edith

  • OSSAI CHIDIMMA

decisions under pressure might turn out wrong or right but we hope for the best

  • Vanessa stephen

This is a food for thought
Truly, what is meant for you must surely come to passed and I loved how zik woke up from his slumber and realized that being a pest is not the best for a man.

  • Nwanne Josephine Chidera

Ziki took a very good decision by not accepting Yvette’s offer to take him. If he had Yvette would have thrown him out again and his life would have been frustrated. But he kept his dignity and it paid off. Another reason why I think he refused the offer, is because he understood that Yvette wealth is not for him and so he would have to be her slave. A very good piece ma. I learnt a very good lesson, which is, what is not yours is not yours no matter how free you are allowed to use it

  • Oma

As he said a man is to be in control of a relationship not the other way .
And not going back was best for him because assuming he had gone back to the luxury life he wouldn’t have met jesus and he wouldnt also.have gotten a job because obviously he was getting everything he needed in her house.
Offering ziki food was to me part of evangelism because its not all situations that you preach jesus, there are other ways to bring a sinner closer to God .

  • Adumike Winifred Munachimso

I know its not the main focus of the story but I have to say that Ziki is really blessed to have someone like Tare around, sheltering Someone who is jobless in Lagos no be beans especially when you are not well to do yourself. And I’m sure Ziki never remembered him when he was having fun. Sometimes hitting the rocks brings one back to his senses.
The part where Ziki transitioned from buying imported toiletries to Joy soap got me laughing.
I really enjoyed the story,In life you have to work hard for yourself to have your dignity.

  • ifunaya chukwuemeka

I think Ziki is right for not returning to Yvette as he stood his ground as a man and could endure pain and not just some one who is in for the good times. I also think that in a relationship a man can be in control without succumbing to the extreme of been abusive either verbally or physical… and Yes i think Christianity is a religion of love and it really played a part in getting him to attend the church. I think he needs to continue in his new found beliefs

  • Ibe favour kalu

Truly, what is not yours is not yours: I’m happy that zik refused Yvette request to take him back. Going back to her simply means he is going to be under her which is wrong, man needs to be in control. Sometimes, it is not only the word of God that draws people to God, but charity offered to them. I’m glad zik knows Christ now and my advice to him is to remain in Christ because everything we ever need is in Christ Jesus. Thanks mum for this story. It’s a didactic one.

  • Heriet

    Great post ma
When one finds Christ he finds peace and prosperity.

    Great post ma
When one find Christ he finds peace and prosperity

  • Anekwe Paschaline

I think he was right to reject Yvette’s offer to come back to her, that would have been a big disaster. And I don’t think his idea of men has to be in control is totally correct, of course the man is the head and ought to be respected but not ‘in control ‘ as he implies. I wouldn’t say it was the food that convinced him to attend church, it was the approach the man used. He didn’t just start preaching to him or try to condemn him. I will advice Ziki to be steadfast in his prayers so as to continue growing in faith. This story goes a long way to show that no matter how bad we are God is still willing to take us back and make us better, we just have to put effort. For Yvette, I hope she finds salvation someday.

  • Ezeoyili Ogochukwu Perpetual

Wow….am really inspired. Am happy that Ziki didn’t give up on himself even when life was not Smooth for him. He did the right thing by refusing to go back to Yvette. He made the right choice because if he had gone back to Yvette he wouldn’t have had the determination to strive hard to earn a living. He wouldn’t have known what the world is like and he would have just lived his whole life depending on Yvette…. Thank God he found Salvation in the Lord.

  • Ezekiel Stanley C.

I think Zik’s decision not to go back to Yvette is right. It shows that he has at least ego left in him.
One of the things I can go home with from this short story is that as a child of God I should pray and ask God for the right approach to win soul for him.
Imagine that the preacher started preaching sermon to Zik, I sincerely believe that he will not attend that program.
Christianity is practical, and practicality yield convinction …..
    Remain blessed my amiable lecturer

  • Ezera Favour

Aww, what is not yours is not yours. God is good, you just have to believe in him because he knows your desires already. Congratulations to Ziki.

  • Akupue chibuike

People have to realise that whatever that didn’t kill them, makes them stronger. Yvette’s actions towards ziki is just an indirect way of telling him to go out of the Cage where she kept him. It doesn’t mean that ziki won’t survive, it simply means that she doesn’t want to part of his success. Also, relationship isn’t all about who Will be the head. It’s all about what idea is good for them. Both should together as a joined body not as separate individuals. so my advice for ziki is just to go on with his new happy Life with Christ. Since he has noticed that”not everything that glitters is gold”. Living a wealthy or luxury Life without being happy is meaningless.

  • Tiger Freda Jarip

Most a times we think we must start big in life. The little job we look down on might turn out to be a stepping stone to our greatness. Ziki is a clear example to that.

  • Chiwetelu Stella

    Such an interesting story.
Ziki made the right by not going back to Yvette. Somehow that disappointment led to blessings.
Also I really don’t think that being with a woman richer than you reduces your self dignity unless of course she is a pride filled woman.
Somehow the food bought for him, made him feel loved and wanted. You surely wouldn’t regect someone who shows care when you need it most.
Well, this story taught me that God can change even our worse situations to blessings we never imagined. Thank you so much ma.

  • Venessa Stephen

Am so happy zik got back to his senses , because they kind of life he was living doesn’t give glory to God.It doesn’t matter how for, but how well . Yvette made him have a second thought about his life.sometimes when we hit rock bottom,we make the best decision of our life.

  • Eya Paschal

Wow…Ma this story is awesome and i must make sure it gets to my uncle who’s life story is similar to that of Ziki’s. I fully support Ziki on the new step he has taken for himself and i pray God uplifts him and grant him his heart desires. IJN. Amen

  • Chukwunwenwa Chinenye

Now he’s thinking the way a man should…
If he had returned to Yvette, he would have wasted more of his time. “you don’t stay long where you don’t belong”.

Meanwhile, I don’t agree with what Ziki said about a man being in control…… Being in control can not make a cheat become faithful and it does not make a faithful man become unfaithful.

On the part of the preacher, I like his approach and I wish some people embarking on evangelism should also adopt that approach.

It’s good to know that Yvette settled down already. Congratulations to her. Let her not throw her husband out one day oo. Lol

Ziki learnt his lessons tho in a very hard way. He’ll definitely be alright at last.

    • Onyia ujunwa sandra

Everybody should have a person like the flyer boy I guess, who tries to give hope to them. The suggestions you get at times is not what you expect, but only God gives humans the right directions and decisions.

  • Abaraonye Chidinma

Every problem has an expiry date. The difference between Ziki being jobless today and having job tomorrow is TIME. One of the lessons I learnt here is patience. It was not wise for him to have gone back to Yvette. I thank God for the young evangelist who started with solving Ziki’s problem. That’s love. When you show one goodness, it can draw him to God. Lovely piece.

  • Obiemeka favour chukwugozie

Thank God for zikis life I am happy he didn’t return back to Yvtee .

  • This story is incredible. I believe his refusal to go back was one step that made him what he become. Ziki learnt his lesson the hard way but it was worth every distress he faced. He couldn’t have made a better decision to struggle for and by himself. Well having the full understanding that no condition is permanent, we should learn not to depend on anyone for survival except God. With God by his side Ziki’s distress is definitely over. Thank you Jesus!

  • Chioma Christy Agbaraka

Wow! In the first episode, Ziki appeared to me like a leech, but I love his action in this episode. It took courage and dignity to have turned down Yvette’s request.

I totally agree with Ziki that a man has got to be in control…. it would also enable the man earn respect from his wife and family.
My advice for him is to save, save for the rainy days. Let him learn from his past mistakes and SAVE.

  • Nwosu Victoria

very wonderful story, a man needs to be in charge. i am so happy he finally got his own source of income. i am glad at the fact that he didn’t jump back into yvette’s house. being hopeless and helpless spurred him to action and i am sure he will be eternally grateful for that.

  • Emmanuel chibuike

Difficulties do not come to destroy us but to help us realized our hidden potentials and power. Ziki has been kicked out of Yvette’s house and now he knew that he needed to do something reasonable in other to survive. He has learnt that change is inevitable. Thank God for him, he was able to succeed through the help of that fellow who showed him the way to Christ.

  • Eze chikadibia Joan

One saying I believe so much is that destiny can be delayed but can never be denied. When God is preparing your palace, he allows you to taste some difficulties first so that you won’t missuse the opportunity. Everything that happens, truly happens for a reason. Yvette openned the door of glory for Ziki which he thought was badluck.

  • Immanuella Uwa

What a great story. I applaud Ziki for being principled enough not to go back to the woman who kicked him out. And really, the offer of food did get to him and was a very good way of reaching the gospel out to him. That is a very great way of sending a message of hope to those in need of salvation. Glad he was able to make something out of his life.

  • This piece is wow! Yes he did well for not returning to Yvette, although earlier on, it looked like we was losing or “missing out” but look how his life changed. If he had returned to her house, he wouldn’t have met his helper and he’d have probably as he feared been her slave but he took one painful decision that paid off really well in the end. It all balls down to the saying in the Bible “don’t despite the days of little beginning”.

  • Oba Cindy biobele

Wow. What a beautiful ending. We’re all happy he didn’t go back to his Girlfriend. This just shows that when you find God, alot of good doors open up for you.
I’m happy he and his roommate became believers and all things are working for his good.

  • Oshana Oyaku Endurance

Sometimes we have to pass through some hard period before God’s light shines upon us. This is for us to learn a lesson. I thank God for Ziki, at least he was smart enough not to give in to Tare after been thrown out. What I learned from this story is that is we come to God, he will also come to us, with all his blessings.

  • Janefrances Nwaduche

I’m so happy ziki did not accept Yvette’s offer to return back to her, it was a very wise decision. He found God and retraced his steps and I pray he keeps holding onto God; from here things will get even better for him.

  • Cynthia

Nice story.. In this life God have a purpose for everyone of us. just draw nearer to him, u will testify to is good work..

  • Bryan. c. okoroigwe

Truly inspiring story, ziki couldn’t have made a better decision.

  • Okafor Emmanuel

I love how this story ended. God always has a plan for us. He just taught that to ziki. Thanks for such a wonderful post ma

  • Ifeanyichukwu Eunice

I am so happy that ziki was able to find his way after everything.

  • Ziki not staying at Yvette is a right thing so that he will face the reality about life and also earn his Respect. Again, Life is filled up with challenges, and blessed are those who do not give up on their God for surely he will make a way

  • Okere Jovita

    Wow…
That’s the spirit “knowing what you want and sticking to it”
The fact that Ziki did not go back to Yvette shows that he has actually realized what he wants for himself
Am happy he accepted God into his life
His success shows that God really do care for his people

    • Obetta Precious Ogechi

Ziki’s relationship with Yvette,I must say there was no love especially from Ziki’s side, who only wanted her body and money.Yvette decision to leave Ziki was a good thing to do

  • Ezeh Chimezie Amos

Yeah, I think Ziki was right to never have gone back because If he had gone back to her, his life would still remain the same and probably worst when she decides to ditch him again.
One thing I learnt from Tare in this story is that at times people need help from you not just the preaching.

  • Duru Joselyn Amarachi

Thats right. While reading i cursed him for not going back to Yvette cuz i felt he is too proud to go back and start all over. Probably save this time. But thank God he met Jesus bcuz no matter what it seems like, if he had gone back, he would be too comfortable to welcome Jesus into his life.
Secondly, i thank the brother that took him to church. I bet you, that meal, sealed the deal.
Lastly, congratulations to Yvette. I just pray she doesnt slave her husband around.

  • Eze Blessing Ada

This story is wow, am happy he met christ ooo because thats the best thing that can happen to him. God works in ways we cannot imagine for me i think grace found him.
It was good that he didnt go back because that would have hindered his blessings and Gods purpose for his life

  • Ebuka vincent

I must admit that I admire Ziki’s decision of not going back to Yvette’s house even when she asked him to, is actually a hard decision for a broke person to make.

  • Agwu Tochukwu Frank

Ziki’s decision of not going back to Yvette is a wise one. Although he made a grievous mistake at first by agreeing to Yvette’s term of being paid for dating her, yet, he finally corrected his mistakes.

You are doing a wonderful job ma.

  • Onah Joy Chimdalu

That guys reaction to Ziki’s story got me and should be emulated by Christians. Preaching is good but not every situation needs it. It makes no sense preaching what we can’t practice. Pray for people but at times be the answer to their prayers….if we can. That is what true Christianity should be like.

  • Uzoma chidera

I love ziki’s spirit, he understood what happiness means and also not going back to lean on the lady, He started all over as a man and he did well by earning himself a good salary and also accepting God as his personal lord and saviour.

  • Chinecherem Grace Stephens

I’m glad this story ended this way.
Thank God Ziki refused to return to Yvette despite her juicy offer of a continued luxury lifestyle. His life would have been much worse if he had returned.

Bad stories sometimes do have a good ending.

  • Nnamani Adaobi Cynthia

Thank God for zikki,…. meeting Christ was the best thing that happened to him, thank God he didn’t go back because if he did he wouldn’t have encountered Christ.
Wow!, Ma your write ups are so nice, keep up the good work ma.!!!!!

  • Obiogwu onyinye

A very nice story with a palatable ending☺. Like I prayed in the last comment that he is able to re-assemble his pieces, he really did. He found the best path (Christ) and He shall make him flourish

  • Rejoice Chiwudom Onyewuchi

According to an Igbo saying “Mornings begin when you awaken”. If she hadn’t kicked him out of her home, he would have never realized how complex life is. It is not always gold that glitters. Zikl did well to avoid returning to her home since she was too busy feeding him fish instead of teaching him to catch fish. Ziki is a true gentleman. It is always a plus to excel.

  • Adeeyo Stephen.

    What an interesting story!
Ziki took the right step by refusing to return to his past. It is one thing to make mistakes, it is another thing to realize it and make a change. Also, the decision of accepting to go with the guy to church was the best step he took. Jesus is the only way; he is the light that lightens our path. Finally, my advice for Ziki is that he should keep doing what he is doing, he should not relent in trusting the Lord. God will make his path straight and guide him. As for men wanting to always be in control, it is true. Every man loves to be in control, but it is not true that if he is not in control he will cheat, rather he will end that relationship in order to redeem his ego.

  • Edoriawhe Faith Avwerusuoghene

Thank God Ziki gave his life to Christ. I’m glad he learnt his lessons and didn’t accept yvettes offer. I learnt a lot from it

  • Nwaedoh Amarachi John

This so a beautiful turn of event. His change started the moment he refused to return to Yvette despite the hardship.
However, I do not agree with Ziki’s idea of “a man has got to be in control otherwise he’s gonna overcompensate in some way like cheating, verbally or physically abusing his woman,” because it is a matter of discipline.
Also, my advice to Ziki is to keep living a honest life as he is right now and God will strengthen him all the way. It will end in praise.
