GOD’S WORD NEVER FAILS!

A young man got admission into the university and told his beloved uncle about it. The uncle asked him to calculate how much he would need to resume school. The lad did but when it was time to go, the uncle failed to provide the money. He did not even explain why or apologize later. But thankfully, the boy had learnt early in life not to rest his hopes on anyone but God. In the course of time, God sent help through various quarters and continued to do so subsequently. Today, that young man is a graduate.

Our God is dependable. He is trustworthy. He has always been and will always be. In the gospels, Jesus, representing God the Father, avows as follows:

“Heaven and earth shall pass away: but my words shall not pass away” (Mark 13:31 – KJV).

I can surmise why the uncle in our story didn’t come through for his nephew. He may have lacked the means to do so. In spite of their good intentions, people often let us down because their resources and abilities are limited. But God created and owns everything and everyone. He is never out of means. He is also all-powerful and all-knowing. Nothing is too difficult for Him to do. Nothing is beyond His understanding.

“The earth is the LORD’s, and everything in it. The world and all its people belong to him” (Psalm 24:1 – NLT).

“The silver is mine, and the gold is mine, says the LORD of Heaven’s Armies” (Haggai 2:8 – NLT).

“’Ah, Sovereign LORD, you have made the heavens and the earth by your great power and outstretched arm. Nothing is too hard for you'” (Jeremiah 32:17 – NIV).

“Great is our Lord and mighty in power; his understanding has no limit” (Psalm 147:5 – NIV).

Another possible reason the uncle failed is that he forgot. It’s amazing the kind of things people forget. You would expect that a person who is forgetful would set reminders for important things but perhaps, they forget that as well. Haha! But it isn’t funny at all to the person that’s hung out to dry.

On the other hand, our God never forgets. After He promised Abraham He would give him an heir through Sarah and the years were passing, He came round from time to time to reaffirm His promise (Genesis 15:1-6, 18:9-15). It doesn’t matter how long ago He said it, you can rest assured that God is keeping His word in mind and would fulfil it at the appropriate time.

There is a passage of Scripture on this that often brings tears to my eyes. It is Isaiah 49:14-16.

“‘But Zion said, “The LORD has forsaken me, the Lord has forgotten me.” ‘Can a mother forget the baby at her breast and have no compassion on the child she has borne? Though she may forget, I will not forget you! See, I have engraved you on the palms of my hands; your walls are ever before me'” (NIV).

Oh yes! God will never abandon His children. He does not forget our plight or the pledges He has made to us concerning them.

The last possible reason I’ve come up with for the uncle’s disappointment is that he never intended to do anything for his nephew in the first place. People often say what they think is expected of them and then dodge matching their actions with their words. Of course, talk is cheap but it is a serious character flaw to make bogus promises. Yet, how many glibly say things they do not mean and let others down constantly?

Praise God, He is not like that! Men can be uncaring, they can smile at you and seem to lend a hand while they are with you but they can snatch it away as soon as you turn and watch you fall flat on your face. However, God can never lie. His yeah is yeah and his nay, nay. There is a famous Bible verse on this (Numbers 23:19) and it is presented here in two translations.

“God is not a man, that he should lie; neither the son of man, that he should repent: hath he said, and shall he not do it? or hath he spoken, and shall he not make it good?” (KJV)

“God is not man, one given to lies, and not a son of man changing his mind. Does he speak and not do what he says? Does he promise and not come through?” (MSG)

Of course, the answer is “NO!” So has God made a promise to you? You can take it to the bank and it will be good for when you need it. No matter how time flies, He will not forget and in due season, that word will come to pass. Hold on to your faith, my brother, my sister, ’cause GOD’S WORD NEVER FAILS!

+++++++
Food for thought: How good is your word?

PRAYER:
Lord, help us to hold fast to Your promises because they will surely be fulfilled in our lives. Also, help us, Your children, to reflect Your faithful nature in our lives and not to bring a reproach to Your name by being liars and unreliable in Jesus’ name. Amen.

  • Encouraging read, Edith. It is true, our trust and ultimate dependency should be in the Lord. Mankind doesn’t have the capacity of faithfulness to meet every need of their fellow brethren.

  • Uzyarmani

Right from time uncles are not meant to be trusted

  • Ozor Chukwuebuka

Our God is dependable. When the door closes, he opens another unto them that love him and trust in his faithfulness.

  • Beautiful and encouraging. A faith and trust builder. Blessings my sister.

  • You make some wonderful points. I like your take on why people let us down. You are right that God never does. I have seen it too many times in my life to doubt it (even when at the time I thought God had forgotten me).

    • Edith Ohaja

Glad to hear from you, Gloria! Thank you for the affirmations and I pray abundant blessings on you and yours in Jesus’ name.

  • Thank you for this beautiful reminder about God’s promises. His promises never fail!

  • Andrew Ngene

LORD I BELIEVE, ALL THINGS ARE POSSIBLE WITH YOU IN MY LIFE.

    • Edith Ohaja

Amen. Though His promises may tarry. Hold on. They will surely come to pass. Your season is coming, Andrew, in Jesus’ name.

  • Ifebunandu Angela

Such is life, people always make promises but end up failing you especially when you need them the most. And people will make you believe that they will help you out of your trying situation but end up not doing anything at all…..only God is reliable in life

    • Edith Ohaja

Yes, my dear, God is reliable but those who are His children should be dependable too. You are blessed in Jesus’ name.

  • Akwolu Chiamaka MaryAnn

I know God’s word never fails. His words may seem slow in coming to accomplishment, but surely it will with great fulfilment. Thanks for this one Ma.

  • nnadi chinyere josephine

the fact is we are not meant to put our hope and trust in any man because they will always fail us, God is d only one we should trust because he can never fail nor forsake us, because he is a God that keeps to his promises.

    • Edith Ohaja

You’re right about God but I must point out that there are people who have the nature of God, people who behave like their Father in heaven. They too keep their word.

  • chidiogo Georginah

We should always put our trust in God,depend on Him as psalm118says it is better to put our trust in God than human beings

  • Irumekhai Mariam

those who bank on God can never go bankrupt.

  • Ekechukwu Nkechi

awesome piece, indeed God never fails and his words are truth and amen

  • Ugwu patience

Hmmm I used to depend on people until my uncle who was supposed to sponsor me in school changed his mind. I still thank God sha because God who owns my uncle’s mind still did something unbelievable & I found myself in school today.I learnt a vital lesson during that period- hope only on God

  • Adamu, Micah

A very captivating piece, well structured with biblical illustrations and references. it gives the reader a sense of belonging and total dependence not on man but to believe and trust in God for divine provision and protection.

  • emekaobi ijeoma rita

    Aunty you are blessed…

  • Obetta Collins Odinakachukwu

Put your trust in the solid rock. The bible says, “they that trust in Him are like Mount Zion, that can never be shaken or moved from its place; they are like seeds planted by the river side, they germinate and bear seeds in the due time”. The way of the Almighty is not the ways of man; man may disappoint at the most crucial moment, but He sticks with you at all times… Thanks for this post, aunty

  • Florence onyekaozuru

Man will surely fail but God can never fail. as he said so shall he do, that is why we should always depend on him and his promises. his uncle may have wanted to help him really but as we know, man proposes but God disposes, so clinging to the never failing word of God is the best hope we have as Christians. very captivating piece as it relates to what happens in our everyday life…….

  • Ike Faustina Uchechukwu

GOD is always faithful, he never fails we should put our trust in him

  • covenant

Sometimes God allows us to go through series of disappointments from people so we can see and recognise Him as the ultimate in that situation and also to increase our faith in Him…

  • Our God never fails. The story actually made me sing “this God too good” by Nathaniel bassey. He is.ever present and i love my God because he first loved me and so he gives us all the things we need no matter the odds.

  • Joy

God never fails truly. I have encountered many challenges and difficulties that made me believe that God can never fail. Though your prayers may seem unanswered but I can assure you He always answers at the appointed time.Let’s trust God alone… Man fails. God bless you Aunty

  • Nnamani Frankline Chinedu

Life has been made in such a way that God can use anything at any point to change history and the story of a man if he can learn to be dependent on God. God is faithful, and we can’t be disappointed if we will learn to trust Him.

  • keswet mercy

sometimes God use people to test us and see how strong we are in faith i believe his uncle was actually God sent in person to test his faith…..but finally and truly God doesnt fail, that’s why i love Him even more

  • Okpe Nnedinso

  • Henrietta Okoye

God is our only provider on earth even our parents fail us at times but He can never ever fail us so far that thing we want is good for us and we are asking of it at the right time. He must provide it… Psalm 118 :8 says it is better to trust in the Lord than to put confidence in man

  • Perpetua Ugwu

God is good and He is the only one to put all our hopes on. He is a dependable and loving God.

  • Anunukem Geraldine

God is the only person we can depend on thank you for teaching us that.

  • Ogechi Ugwu

This piece was really an encouragement to me. People may and will always fail us, but not God. Another reason the uncle in this story failed may also be from the kind of woman he’s married to. She may have pushed him against it. All the same, people fail but God cannot and will never fail. You know why? He respects His word more than Himself. Imagine what happened to His only son, Jesus Christ, on the cross. He had to back off for His word to come to fulfilment. I fear God each time I read His word. Well done, MA!

  • Amoke chinasa

One thing we should understand in life is never to put our trust in human beings who are imperfect. Its only God who is perfect that we can put our trust in. thank u ma for d wonderful piece.

  • Chioma

Wow. God created and owns everything and everyone. He is never out of means. He is also all-powerful and all-knowing.

  • Chukwuekezie Nneka Quindaline

I truly believe in God’s promises, because he is not a man that he should lie about his promises to his children.

  • Ijeoma Anita

Indeed, talk is cheap! Put ur trust in God and he’ll never fail u. Humans are imperfect and they are likely to fail u. Thank u ma for this wonderful piece.

  • Ozoemena Jennifer Adaobi

Depending on people is like building castles in the air.. As Christians we should place our trust in God and not man. Humans are imperfect

  • Deborah

Human being can fail us only God keep to his promises

  • Mbata Jemita Chiemika

It is true that Gods word never fails, for what he says he does within a twinkle of an eye.

  • ayogu lovina chinenye

Any man that puts his trust on a fellow man is like a sailor that boarded a leaking boat which will sink in the middle of the river.

  • AMEN on this wisdom ! I love that you include much scripture. Thanks be to God for His wonderful work in the family <3

  • Evangelist Felix

This is a timely word for this time ! Thank you for encouraging us.

  • Victoria Nonike

Whether we like it or not, irrespective of the time frame, the word of God never fails. So why worry? Why fret? He will come through in due time, he said so himself in his word. Wonderful, inspiring post ma.

  • Ezenwa Obinna G.

Man will always fail but God cannot and will not fail. It is clear enough, that is why he is God. I trust him for that.

  • Akabuike Chisom

His promises to us works like an alarm clock, when the time is due he would surely deliver, he is not a forgetful God who promised and fail, his words always come to past in our lives it would take time but trust me his right time is the best

  • Chika Divine Umunnakwe

God’s word never fails for real. This piece is a great one! The illustration used in this article communicates to readers. The example relates to human interest and emotional speaks to people. This story relates to my life experience and am bold to say God’ s word never fails! God is reliable, dependable, not a liar and competent in all areas of our lives. I can’t explain His grace in my life and academic as He promises through His word. I got this great revelation when I was in my 100 level and now when it seems tough i just remind myself of His word. Some Parents truly have forgotten their children but God says I am in His palm and cannot be forgotten. This is sufficient for me!

  • ibemma Ginikachukwu

God never fails indeed.Human beings make promises which most time looks very true,at the end they fail us but God almighty ,despite our wrong deeds and unfaithfulness never lets us down

  • Ani Fabian

Our God is to big to disappoint or make promises which he can not fulfill. I so much believe in him that i have never doubted any of his promises in my life.man promise and fail because they are not perfect. But God promise and redeem his promises because he is to perfect and everly dependable. Nice post ma.i feel much much blessed with these.

  • Eze Chinyere

We should rest our hope in God, not man. This is important because God has the power and ability to to grant our heart desires, rather than man who can fail us at any time. We should also exercise patience, while believing that God will come to our rescue. Indeed, God never fails and is ever reliable!!

  • Iheanyi Ugochi Elizabeth

we can bank on every promise God has made to us because His word must surely come to pass. most times in our lives it seems as if God has forgotten His promise, He is just testing our ability to trust in him.

  • Chukwunwenwa Chinenye

This post reassured me of God’s unfailing love for mankind. It’s better to bank our hope /trust in God because he never disappoints.
Thanks for sharing this wonderful piece ma

  • Uche, David Ihechukwu

Amazing and highly inspirational. The magnitude of God’s wonders can never be measured, it is infinite. His words and promises are unfailing and unchanging. I hope and pray this beautiful, inspirational piece would reach out to a wider audience, a lot of people are in desperate need of a piece like this.

  • Anabude oluchi

God’s words are dependable unlike man who will disappoint at point you least expect. God makes and fulfill his promise that is why is called the reliable and the one that shows up when we think all hope is lost

  • Oleighibe Oluebube Tessy

There are many reasons why people disappoint or fail to keep their promises, as you have formerly listed, Ma, it could be done on purpose so as not to help, forgetfulness or even lack of finance. But we have a living God who never fails, therefore, if anyone is looking for a proof, look no further because, I am a living witness, and Yes, GOD’s word never fails!

  • Henry

The only being I know who stands to His word is God. He holds his words dearly than His name. A man’s words makes him, not even his name. Which is why I am careful in promises, I better say what I can do.
Men fail, but let us not begrudge them when they fail us. We should look above them to God in all situation.

  • Thomas Rebecca Ina

I prayed the prayer after the story, my faith shall remain strong.
I have expectations from God and I know He is dependable.
Thank you Aunty Edith, God bless you more Ma.

  • Chidebe uchechukwu cyprain

Wow! Mma, I am really in love with wonderful write up, especially with that part that talked about God’s promise to give Abraham a child through his wife Sarah which took years before it came to pass. It teaches us that God’s promise may take time but it must surely come to fulfillment.
The God we serve is a promise keeper.

  • Brown Favour Felix

  • Ayigbo Chineme Edna

Encouraging words ma’am. Indeed God keeps His word and He never fails.

  • Amuzie Chioma Esther

He that trusts in God would never be disappointed. In this kind of situation people might decide to go into armed robbery or kidnapping just to raise money for their education but on his own part he decided to wait on God and he saw him through. We should always trust In God for he alone can provide for us. Thank u ma for this.

  • Ojimadu kingsley

So many times,in my life I thought the Lord had forgotten me, but he always proved me wrong when i list expect it. Why cause is word endureth forever. He is not like man. Who promises and fail. More than one occasion I have promised and failed dey to circumstance why cause I am human. But the Lord never fails. So we trust in him and not of man.thank you ma for this reassuring post may the Lord continue to bless you.

    • God’s word assures us that He is not a man that he should lie,nor the son of man that he should repent. All his promises will come to manifestation in our life despite the wilderness we pass through,we will enjoy the promises just believe and trust God.

  • Anokwuru Catherine Ihuoma

A lot of people struggle with lack in various aspects of their lives just because they don’t understand the principles of faith. Faith is the substance of things hoped for and the evidence of things not seen. Simply put, through faith what is not, is…and once we start to understand the concept of faith, we begin to understand that God never fails, God never lies, He’s always faithful and What He says, He’ll do. We just need to unlock our faith to unlock God’s response.

  • NWACHUKWU VICTORIA TOCHUKWU

I cannot count when I would say, “they are just human, if it was God, I wouldn’t be experiencing this …”. God works in a marvelous way that keeps surprising us even though we have experienced his marvelous works before. I am a living testimony myself. I am grateful you wrote this piece to remind people that God is the forever omnipresent one. Thank you, Dr. Edith.

  • Ugochukwu Chah

God is simply the best. He does what he says when he says it. He is not man that he lies no. He does not decieve neither does he forget. He who made us as we are, how can he be less than perfect? Holy indeed is his name.

  • Aleke Juliet C.

Our God indeed never dissapoints, and just like the young man in the story, I don’t put all my hope in man because experience has taught me better.

  • He( God) is too faithful to fail or disappoint.
I have learnt in life never to put my hope on anyone. Man can fail you, even your parents.
So when life seems dark and dreadful, don’t forget to pray.
