END-OF-THE-YEAR PRAYER: May our troubles perish like Pharoah’s army
This is the last week for all of this year’s outstanding troubles and wahala to pack their bags and leave our lives. I remember a rhyme we often recited as children: “I’m going to sweep the dirt away, Whoosh, whoosh, whoosh!” So by our prayers, we lift our brooms in the spirit and sweep away the dirt of sin, sickness, lack and whatever the enemy has particularly used to challenge us this year. “Whoosh, whoosh, whoosh,” they go in Jesus’ name.
When the children of Israel left Egypt under the leadership of Moses, Pharoah, whom the Israelites had served his people for over 400 years was bent on hauling them back into bondage. He marshalled 600 of the best of Egypt’s chariots to pursue and seize the Israelites before they crossed the Red Sea into Canaan (Exodus 14:5-8).
The Israelites were terrified as they saw the galloping troops coming after them while freedom was just a breath away. They cried out to the Lord who separated the Egyptians from them with the pillar of cloud. Then the Lord miraculously opened the sea so that the Israelites could speedily cross on dry ground (Exodus 14:10-22).
When Israel had crossed, the barrier between the two nations was lifted and the Egyptian forces gleefully rode into the sea to capture the Israelites. God began his demolition of the enemy army by dismantling the wheels of their chariots so that they were stuck in the sea bed. Then He brought back the waters to drown the Egyptians (Exodus 14:23-28).
My prayer for us is that in this last week of what has been a terrible year for many, God will enact a similar dramatic deliverance for us- that He will make a way of escape for us from the powers and problems holding us captive and should they persist in hounding us, He will exterminate them from our lives and circumstances by His awesome power, just like He did Pharaoh’s army in the Red Sea.
As we pray and disconnect ourselves from the disappointments, frustrations and weights of this year, causing them to go, “Whoosh, whoosh, whoosh,” out of our lives, may the Lord lift up His banner against them, barring them forever from our lives in Jesus’ name.
And may the new year herald for us a new beginning, a fresh start with God in worship and faithfulness, in victory, vitality and valour in Jesus’ name.
PS: Does this mean we’ll never have trouble again? Not necessarily. As long as we’re on this side of heaven, our flaws, the imperfections in our fallen world and the enemy’s machinations will bring challenges our way from time to time. But we should not be unduly worried about that possibility because God offers us continual deliverance in His word. Apostle Paul testified about this when he said that God is the one “Who delivered us from so great a death, and doth deliver: in whom we trust that he will yet deliver us” -2 Corinthians 1:10. (KJV)
My brother, my sister, God who delivered us in the past is delivering us now and if we ever need deliverance in the future, He will be there to help us until He wants us to come home to Him. What a confidence that brings to my heart! Hope it strengthens you to forge ahead too. In this uncertain world, we have an anchor for our souls in the Lord, our Maker, the immovable Rock whose word is immutable. As we are reminded in Hebrews 6, “We have … an anchor for the soul, firm and secure,” so that, “we who have fled to take hold of the hope set before us may be greatly encouraged.” (NIV)
Glory to God!
I really pray that the new year brings joy, fulfillment into my life and that of many. This year has been a whole lot and I really hope the new year washes away the troubles of this one.

He(God) is the Lord today, tommorow and forever, he never changes nor goes back on his word.
Just as we trust in him, he will and always fights for us and makes every tongue that rises against us to be condemned.
true.
I just came across this post on your blog, may our prayers be heard and answered. “the imperfections in our fallen world and the enemy’s machinations will bring challenges our way from time to time” To be honest 2020 was a lot and we all wish this year will be better but it doesn’t even seem like it will be.
Fingers crossed! I look forward to better days and a better year ahead.
May God surround us with His mercy and goodness no matter what is happening in the world in Jesus’ name.

Happy New year Ma?
Seeing this post in the new year and being most grateful that I lived past 2020, despite all the hardships that came with it.
Most people don’t understand the grace it is to live past the year, I always appreciate your kind words Aunty Edith, Happy new year ?
Amen! I believe that this year will be better off
Yes ooohhhh!, I so much believe God words for he made it clear that the Egyptians that we see today we shall see them no more, and in alignment with Gods word in Romans 8:31 “if God be with us, who can be against us? definitely Nobody, and if they try to go against our way forward they will be dismantled and washed away just like what transpired between the Israelites and the Egyptians.
Always remember if God be with us who can be against us Nobody!!
I’m sure when the Israelites were being oppressed by the Egyptians for years, they felt like God had forsaken them, but no! God never forgets his people. He is always there for us even when we feel like He’s not and gives us triumphant victory over all these challenges.
I say a big Amen to that powerful prayer. This year 2021 Will be great and far better than the previous years. God will save and protect us from the hands of the wicked and finally lead us to the promised land where the land is full of milk and honey like he did for the israelites. Thank you so much, ma!
2020 was a crazy year everybody wants to forget. amen to the prayers.

May our prayers be heard and answered. Any brush with the holy, if accompanied by faith, may produce miraculous results.
Amen Amen ma
May the good lord keep us and sustain throughout the remaining months of 2021
God is not a magician, we should know that its only when we have faith and draw close to him that he can see to any of our request. And he’ll not hesitate to pour down his blessings on those that ask of him.
Amen. 2020 came with it’s own problem but just has you said God will perish our problem just as he destroyed Pharaoh’s army in the Red Sea has we enter 2021.
Glory to God! It has indeed been a wonderful year of God’s perfection so far.
