Nothing compares to the joy and awe we feel in the presence of almighty God. We cannot afford to be away from Him. In the Old Testament, worshippers needed to go to the temple to soak in God’s presence and glory. Now, because Jesus is at the right hand of the Father and has sent His Spirit to live in us, wherever we are we can carry the presence of God.
However, we need to be in harmony with Him by maintaining an attitude of reverence and avoiding sin to actually revel in the beauty of His presence which has been freely made available to us upon redemption. When we do so, we see the scriptures that say we have this treasure in earthen vessels and we are more than conquerors fulfilled in our lives (2 Corinthians 4:7, Romans 8:37).
May God feel our hearts, then, with hunger for His holy presence and help us to spend time each day praying and studying the Bible so that in our speech and conduct, we will reflect His glory to the world in Jesus’ name. Amen.
Psalm 27:4 (KJV)
One thing have I desired of the Lord, that will I seek after; that I may dwell in the house of the Lord all the days of my life, to behold the beauty of the Lord, and to enquire in his temple.
1 Corinthians 6:19-20 (KJV)
19. What? know ye not that your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost which is in you, which ye have of God, and ye are not your own?
20. For ye are bought with a price: therefore glorify God in your body, and in your spirit, which are God’s.
Mark 1:35 and 39 (KJV)
35. And in the morning, rising up a great while before day, he went out, and departed into a solitary place, and there prayed.
39. And he preached in their synagogues throughout all Galilee, and cast out devils.
