FEARFULLY AND WONDERFULLY MADE!

Hi, hi! Hope you’re having a great weekend. Want to do some self-loving and thank God who made me and you in His image. We look different but we’re all special in our own unique ways because we were exquisitely made by the Master Craftsman of the Universe, God Almighty Himself. And although sin came to separate us from Him, He sent His Son, Jesus, to die in our place and reconcile us to Him if we believe and accept Him.

Lately, I’ve filled up some, weightwise. Naturally, this has elicited different reactions from myself and people around me. Some warn me to do whatever I can to watch it. I tell myself I need to go further and get back my thin self. Others say I look better now. But sometimes, torn between the various opinions, I often wonder who’s right and who’s wrong.

The slim me

The funny part is that the weight is more obvious with certain kinds of outfits. I tied a wrapper (what we call buba in my country) to church recently and the pix I took later showed a slim me. Also, when I wear some skirts cut in what tailors call six or eight-pieces patterns, I look slender. But in some skirts and gowns, I look close to rotund. Lol!

But the bottomline is: I’m still me. Bigger or smaller, I’m still me: fearfully and wonderfully made. As long as I don’t get so large that I endanger my health, I shouldn’t feel terrible because I added some kilogrammes. Life is in stages. We may not go through all the stages looking the same, but we are still as precious in God’s sight as we always were and so should we be in ours.

The bigger me

We can do the necessary to keep fit but we shouldn’t let a change in weight adversely affect our self-esteem. We should always remember that we WE ARE FEARFULLY AND WONDERFULLY MADE!!! Glory to God!!!

Wow! This is lovely. I am wonderfully and fearfully made! We love you for who you are, cos you have impacted a lot in us and the world at large, Ms Edith.

Love this sister!! After having my kids I became pleasantly plump, lol. I often comment to my husband that my arms are too fat and nothing I do slims them down. One day he nipped my arm and said, “Ownership”.
In shock I asked what does that mean? He said your outward makeup should not be your concern it is your inward makeup that draws others to Christ. Those who are drawn to Christ will love you for who you are and that is a woman of God. I then understood what it means to be wonderfully and fearfully made. When our spirit emulates God’s spirit in truth others are in awe at his workmanship, that is you. Love you and God bless you!

    • Edith Ohaja

God bless you so much, my favourite sister. Thank God for your husband. It is true that the extent to which we reflect Christ is more important than how we look physically. My love to you and your family. You are forever blessed in Jesus’ name.

But the bottomline is: I’m still me. Bigger or smaller, I’m still me:fearfully and wonderfully made. The most important thing is that the change in your physique does not in any affect your God-given prowess in reaching out to numerous a number of people positively rather it is acting as a catalyst to achieving that. Ma, you still engage in little exercise such as jogging, trekking or …lol!. Ride on ma.

I always admire your choice of words, Chinedu! Wish you would write more. In fact, I pray that you receive a burden to write, especially to share your faith, in that personable style that you are gifted with. I pray this in Jesus’ name.

    Thank you ma.
You have impacted something rich in me.
I didn’t like my physical appearance cos am slim but i just realized that loving me is one way of appreciating God who is the master creator

    • Edith Ohaja

Uh oh! So slim people can dislike their appearance too. It’s really different strokes for different folks then. Glad you got the new perspective. Glory to God and blessings to you in Jesus’ name.

I am indeed fearfully and wonderfully made. sometimes I look at the mirror examining for example My hair, and wonder where they come from.

  • chidiogo Georginah

  • Joy

While growing up, I was ashamed of myself because I have hairs all over my body and when people want to describe me they will always say “don’t you know that girl with hairs all over her body like a monkey”it made me feel bad because I don’t know that am fearfully and wonderfully made by God. Thank you ma for sharing this piece

  • Onyekaozuru Florence

Yea right I am beautifully, fearfully, graciously and wonderfully made by God, thank you ma for bringing this thought to my consciousness, although sometimes I feel otherwise but it feels so good to know that no matter how I look I was made this way by my creator, a very beautiful and motivating piece ” I LOVE IT”……….

  • This piece is a reminiscence of my primary school days. Back then, I looked so plump that I became an object of laughter and mockery. But I soon learnt to put up with their excessive taunts. I knew i was made in the image of the most high and that He is infallible. It feels good to know that we are fearfully and wonderfully made by God and that we are the apple of his eyes.

  • Ugwu patience

Yes whether big or small,we are still made by God but this is not a ticket for you to add weight every day.I love you Aunty Edith

  • Ike Faustina Uchechukwu

Whether we are called slim or fat, ugly or beautiful, we should always remember that we are made in the image and likeness of God.

  • Obetta Collins Odinakachukwu

God created us all in His image. We all have different looks, does that mean that God has different looks? My bible made me to understand that God is a spirit, then how are we His image when we are but sand and ash? How can we resemble that which we do not see? Well, the image of God in you is that spirit He put in you when you were created. Your conscience. The spirit to decide between good and evil; to know what is right and what is wrong. That same spirit is the precious jewel which the devil is trying hard to steal. God has given us power over the devil, that’s why we say that we are wonderfully made. The devil is supposed to be afraid of us as children of God. But, what do we do to keep this spirit of God in us alive? How do we make the devil to be afraid of us?

  • covenant

We should learn to see our selves differently, the way God sees us..cos we are fearfully and wonderfully made.

  • Ruth Ejims

Ma, you’ve not added much weight sha. You are just looking good and are flourishing, ma.

  • Okpe Nnedinso

You are right ma..we are all made in the image and likeness of God and we should forever be proud of that…bless you ma

  • Okoye chidi

Yes ooo we r Gods image nd likeness

  • We are fearfully and wonderfully made! God put us together and said we are good! No other opinion matters! Great reminder. Thanks

  • Henrietta Okoye

It doesn’t matter the size so far your health is good what matters is the self esteem… Nobody was ever created to weigh the same thing from birth

  • Hephzibah

Yes. We’re all wonderfully made. There’s nothing in us that wasn’t intended to be put there by God. And one thing about God is, the more you thank him for the way you are, he goes all the way to make you more beautiful than you already are.

  • Ijeoma Anita

We are indeed fearfully and wonderfully made! Ur looks shouldn’t affect ur self esteem. Slim or fat, tall or short, black or white, God loves us all and that’s what matters. Thank u ma for this post.

  • Thanks for sharing! I’ve been thinking about body image a lot the last couple of weeks, and this was confirmation of some of the things I’ve been learning!

  • Njoku Chimamaka Elizabeth

In life people would always have their opinion about you but what’s important is how you see yourself. We shouldn’t let people’s opinions change the way we see ourselves. Nice one

  • Ugwu Ifunanya

Exactly ma, we are fearfully and wonderfully made. Wether slim, fat, slender or short. Everyone of us is uniquely and wonderfully constructed. So no need for body shaming because we all were created in his image and likeness

  • Asadu Ikechukwu Valentine

What makes one is not the physical apprearancebut what one is constituted of.The most important thing is that the change in your physique does not in any affect your God-given prowess in reaching out to numerous a number of people positively rather it is acting as a catalyst to achieving that.

  • Ekwuru Jill

But the bottom line is, “bigger or smaller, i am still me” just like the song says.. am wonderfully made, am fearfully made, i belong to God, i resemble him. This piece really rouse my esteem. Thank you ma.

  • Amana Sharon Umola

This has boosted my self esteem. I am God’s creation, a version of the Almighty God. I am fearfully and wonderfully made.

  • Chukwurah Nnenna Chisom

I totally agree with you ma. Some people get to look down on themselves because of their physical appearance, but it isn’t right. Having a positive mindset that you are beautifully and wonderfully made by God Almighty Himself, will make one appreciate and love his/herslf better. Nice one!!

  • Be who you are, love your self the way you are, for you are fearfully and wonderfully made. That is quite inspirational. i appreciate it.may God reward you.

  • God is a wonderful father indeed he Is a wonderful father his works are great and am proud to be his daughter we are all unique the way we are and we should be proud of that fact….

  • Uche, David Ihechukwu

A reminder that we all are made in creation of the father. We all are wonderfully made, no matter to tribe, race, or culture. No matter the height, size or appearance. We have a likeness with God, a strong message to all those out there struggling with self esteem issues, a strong message to all those that may have one way or the other feel they’re not beautiful, or good enough to fit into the society, even if the society may not accept you the way you are, God your creator does; and he knows just why he made you the way you are.

  • Chikodi Obu

Big or small, fat or slim, they’re all accidents and what matters the most is your substance: what you’re made of! Who you are. You are still that same God’s child who is “fearfully and wonderfully made”. When it’s time to eat, eat well. When it’s time to work out, work out well. It’s life. The you in you is what really matters. I’m sharing this one too ?

  • Henry

This words are some of the many I remind myself of daily. God made me for more! Thank you.

  • Ezike winifred udochukwu

Some time last year….i looked like i added a lot of weight…but now my friends say am next to a broomstick…i dont know which to believe but all d same am still fearfully and wonderfully made in his grace.?

  • Am so glad am fearfully and wonderfully made in Gods image . My looks doesn’t matter because i was made in Gods image, he made me beautiful. Don’t ever refer to someone being ugly, no soul created by God is ugly because we are fearfully and wonderfully made in his likeness. Thank you ma for this motivational post.

  • Janefrances Nwaduche

It gladdens my heart to know that whenever God looks at me he sees one of his beautiful creation. So, no matter what people say, I believe I am beautiful because, I have been fearfully and wonderfully made. Amen.

  • Amuzie chioma Esther

Hi,I had a wonderful weekend. We are lucky to be made in God’s image because he is beautiful and handsome lols. You beautiful whether you are slim or big just accept your self the way you are because you are fearfully and wonderfully made.

  • Ikwuakam Oluchi Francisca

We are all fearfully and wonderfully made, one’s weight or height should not make one look down on oneself because you’re made in the image of God just the way you are. But,never gain so much weight to the extent of endangering your life.

  • Ojimadu kingsley

We are beautiful and wonderfully made In the eyes of the almighty cause he made us in his image and likeness, so whatever shape we take. We are made In the perfection of the Lord. So we should worship and serve our God diligently so he continues to guide and protect us in Jesus name I pray.

  • Michael onyedinma

it is our inward makeup that draws others to Christ. When our spirit emulates God’s spirit in truth others are in awe at his workmanship, that is you. Love you and God bless you!

  • Uzoma chidera

The fact that God created us in his own image is what make us unique and special in our own way,we are beautiful the way we are, we should always have that in mind and also the greatest is our father’s (God) love.

  • Abiayi Ifeonuchukwu
