On Complaints against Collection of Tithes and Offerings during COVID-19 Pandemic

I’ve just about had it with those complaining that churches are collecting tithes and offerings online during this pandemic. The same people who ask churches to donate to the fight against COVID-19 and cater for the poor are losing their minds that churches have means for online donations as though those platforms have just been devised. I thought in their wisdom they would have known that in this age of e-banking, many Christians have been doing much of their giving without recourse to physical cash.

And some say pastors are forcing people to give. Except in the case of some charlatans, no pastor forces anyone to give. How is that even possible? I have stated in another post that all giving is voluntary if we follow New Testament teaching (see link below). If someone is threatening or manipulating you to part with your hard-earned cash, shouldn’t you give him or her a wide berth?

?
IS TITHING COMPULSORY FOR THE CHRISTIAN?(What Really Does the Bible Say?)
?

Pastors are merely telling their parishioners avenues to give online, which they can use voluntarily. As I’m typing this, many of these pastors are holding online services.** They did not stop working when the stay-at-home directive was given. They’ve maintained their activities online. Do you think it’s cheap to host these online ministrations? If people are being blessed and they send offerings to sustain the work and provide for the ministers, their families and assistants, how is that wrong?

It is true that Apostle Paul was a tentmaker but some pastors say they have been called into fulltime ministry and I believe them. They are available 24/7- studying, fasting and ministering. None of that has changed during this pandemic. Even those who cannot do online ministrations are calling and praying for their members. And many Christians who understand this and have some income at this time are eager to support them.

I find it unconscionable that anyone, especially one who calls himself or herself a Christian, should be attacking pastors about tithes and offerings now. If you have and you are willing to give, do so. If you don’t have, don’t discourage others from giving. More than that, don’t bring a curse on yourself by making blanket and unfounded accusations against ministers of the gospel.

Have yourself a happy new week!

Philippians 4:16-19 (KJV)
“16. For even in Thessalonica ye sent once and again unto my necessity. 17. Not because I desire a gift: but I desire fruit that may abound to your account. 18. But I have all, and abound: I am full, having received of Epaphroditus the things which were sent from you, an odour of a sweet smell, a sacrifice acceptable, wellpleasing to God. 19. But my God shall supply all your need according to his riches in glory by Christ Jesus.”

1 Corinthians 9:13-14 (ESV)
“13. Do you not know that those who are employed in the temple service get their food from the temple, and those who serve at the altar share in the sacrificial offerings? 14. In the same way, the Lord commanded that those who proclaim the gospel should get their living by the gospel.”

I feel giving should not be made compulsory. Individuals should not be forced to give above their means, but also as a Christian ur tithe and offering should not be ignored, and when these are observed it pushes God to do more for us. Nice post, ma. Thanks! ❤️

    • You’re right, Winifred! God bless you!

      • Obiora Miracle onyinyechi

I feel that giving should not be compulsory, but as a Christian we don’t worship God on occasion and God doesn’t do something for us on occasion, he does it at all times , so why should we give him back on conditions.

    • Victor Adimchimma Ogenyi

Thanks so much for this ma’am.
My contribution. We don’t actually give those offerings and tithes to the pastor nor the reverend in charge, instead we’re giving it to God because he’s the one that has provided for you. If we freely give we’ll freely receive.

  • Obeta Lillian Chiamaka

It is more blessed to give than to receive. Giving is optional and as Christians we give our offerings and tithes to thank God and also to sow a seed

    • Thank God for the understanding you have. You are highly blessed in Jesus’ name.

    • Udegbulam Favour Oluchi

Tithes and offerings are means of giving to God’s vineyard. Christians should not see it as a selfish interest to the pastors. Even when Abraham had only a son, God still asked him to offer him as a sacrifice. So, Christians should learn how to offer to God in any situation.

  • Ezidimma Odinakachukwu Oluchukwu

Some people do not see giving of tithes and offerings as a thing of God they feel that it’s the pastor or the church that needs the money and therefore force the members to give them. Not knowing that it ordained by God that we give our tithes and offerings

    • It’s always better to see our giving as a covenant between us and God. God loves a cheerful giver and He always rewards such a person. Stay safe and blessed, my dear!

  • Nnachetam favour chinecherem

Christians should operate from the standpoint of knowledge, they ought to see the act of giving as a platform to get blessed and not extortion cause it comes with a promise of abundance (Malachi 3:10).
And I don’t see why this should be a problem, nobody is mandating anyone to give, it’s called tithe and offering not task and offering.

  • Nkwocha Chibueze Innocent

What I have to say is that if you have and you can give you give, but looking at it from the other people’s point of view they feel that this is hard time that no one is making any income and you are telling people to pay tithe in their thoughts the money they will use to sustain themselves, no one knows when the whole lockdown thing will be over, but it’s not wrong for people that can afford to pay, it’s also a way of supporting the online ministry

    • Right! Some people, especially government workers, are getting paid. But like you said and my post emphasised, only those who have can give. This issue does not warrant castigating pastors at all. God’s grace and protection on you and your family in Jesus’ name.

  • Amaugo Stephanie Chidinma

I see nothing wrong with platforms that have been made available for people to give in this season. As the Bible rightly stated, giving is voluntary. If I’m asked sef, I think this is the period people should give more than ever to support God’s work. It’s very sad to know that believers are among the destructive critics in this area. I pray the eyes of our understanding will be enlightenened in this nation so we will know when “to chook mouth for matter wey concern us and the one wey no concern us”. Thank you Ma for sharing this

  • Yes.. I reasoned about the offering that won’t be coming in. Funny though am not a patriarch. But the moment is so challenging I won’t put a halt in giving..instead we should be primarily intended on rationing available funds..

  • Richards Orighomisan Mercy

“If you have and you are willing to give, do so. If you don’t have, don’t discourage others from giving” EXACTLY

  • Ejiofor Emmanuel

For those people accusing pastors, Judge not! What you don’t know, don’t say to avoid bringing curse on your head. Remember, the priest is a representative of God and anyone who accuse or insults pastors insult God
Also, if you don’t want to give, don’t give but don’t discourage others who want to do so.

  • Ossai Chidimma Linda

Giving is an optional engagement, those who feel the need should give and those who do not shouldn’t give.

  • Ochei Anthony Arinze

Pastors don’t force their members to give tithes and offering but sometimes they use indirect way to compel their members. They will bring one passage in the bible that will make you to feel guilty if you don’t pay your tithe without minding whether its your last card or not.

  • Añulika Iwoba

The presence of charlatans and in their numbers too in the business of religion, undoubtedly accounts for the scepticism people express as regards that.
There are too many frauds out there parading as men of God whose sole interest is to fill their pockets. And tithes and offering is a straight way to fulfill that. I don’t see why all such shouldn’t be called out in their dubious endeavours.
In times like this, one would imagine that tithing and offerings be de-emphasized but not with these people.
And I don’t think they have to verbally force anyone to pay their dues.

    • Read again, my dear. No one is being forced to give. The argument some are making is that giving to churches be halted and that’s what I’ve argued against. Cheers!

  • UDOKO CHINASA THEODORA

Whoever that wants to give should do with a clean and clear mind. When giving,do that with the hope of helping others and not as punishment for theLord loves the heart that gives cheerfully.Nice work ma.

  • Ugwoke Jennifer Chinecherem

It’s just like you said ma “if you have and you are willing to give, do, If you don’t have, don’t discourage others from giving”. Very simple. It’s very very optional. God bless you Ma.

  • I have always argued with people who make assumptions about tithes and how the church or pastor involved uses it, I find it obnoxious….
Tithes, seeds and offering are voluntary, although some alleged false pastors are going around spoiling the names of other pastors and people are known to generalize.

  • Nwalutum Chisom Doreen

Giving isn’t mandatory, deep down inside an individual he/she knows what and when to give, let’s be spiritual enough to know what, where and when to give, not under the compulsion of our pastors, or maybe because others are doing so. As Children of God, we need to be Spirit-led too.

  • Igwe Chioma Esther

One shouldn’t be compelled to give as giving is a thing of the heart. Give because your heavenly father has blessed you to become a blessing to His Kingdom.

  • Obiosa Oluchukwu Reward

Good loves a cheerful giver. for it is more blessed to give than to receive. giving should come from an open heart. if one is forced to give, then where is the blessing?

  • Oruma Nneoma Goodnews

    Corinthians 9:7 (ESV)
“Each one must give as he has decided in his heart, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver.
The above scripture summarizes my thoughts on this issue.Giving should be done according to one’s personal decision. It should not be forced on someone. And for those pastors who extort from their members, they should desist or they will face God’s wrath.

  • Ibaro Harrison Chidalu

The earlier we understand that God “will not” come in person and receive our offerings is when we will know peace concerning giving tithes and offerings. Ideally, whatever we give in the church is for the sake of God and the good of humanity.
    Thanks for these clarifications ma’am!

  • Sambo Deborah Friday

Tithes and offerings is something that should be done willingly and not by force.
What I notice about some set of people is that they must always say words of condemnation even when they know that what they are talking about is a very simple issue.
Some Christians have these loose understanding that it’s the pastor’s who use the tithes and offerings so there is no point in paying it to the church.

  • Chibuife Isaac Chukwuebuka

So many people don’t understand the spiritual concept of giving. “Give and it shall be given unto you” so says the Bible. We give not because we expect to receive back but because God has commanded us to. The Lord blesses those who give cheerfully.

  • EMMANUEL AGBOWO

Giving is willing, and i agree with you by saying if you don’t have don’t discourage others

  • Ezeh Loveth chinemerem

Giving is optional. As a Christian if you have and you are willing to give,do so. God loves the heart that gives cheerfully.

  • Chukwumalume Ozioma

Let those who are moved and have the desire to give to God, give. Those who don’t have the desire to give, should not look for cunny means and statements to demoralize and degrade respectively, the people who are moved to give and the pastors that stand in place of God to receive these offerings.

  • Eze Esther Nzubechukwu

Blessed is the hand that giveth.
The pastors and priests contributed spiritual during the pandemic, so i see no reason why we (Christians) shouldn’t give volunteely if we have.its never composrly to give offerings

  • Ugwu Somtochukwu

The act of giving is something we do wholeheartedly and willingly. That you don’t have something to offer/give is not enough reason for you to reprimand others who want or wish to give. There’s a blessing attached to every act of giving. Let us be guided in terms of our actions and utterances. Thank you Ma for this post.

  • Stephen Ofojeh

Giving is an optional thing. A person who wants to give should do so and a person who doesn’t want to shouldn’t. No one should be forced to give.

  • I don’t see anything wrong in giving offerings during the convid ,we supposed to give even before they ask, those tithes and offerings are used in the church administration.

  • Chukwu Joy Chioma

These days, many people feel that religious leaders live extravagantly off money put into the church, probably due to the increase in”fake pastors and prophets” so they’ll rather not give. This is a common belief in recent times.
It is also common these days for people to say they’ll rather give their money to charity.

  • John Adoyi

There is nothing wrong in giving tithes and offerings to Churches.
If you have the money, you should give because that is the only way the Church is being maintained and sustained.

  • Nwokedi Fortune Odinakachi

Giving is very Paramount in the life and growth of a Christian. These Ministers were/are really doing great jobs and needed/need to be appreciated! Although I believe no Christian is to give under compulsion.

  • Maureen

Honestly regarding this post, asking for collections during the lock down was not nice at all .Offerings can be understandable but tithe? Hell no.. I mean we all know how hard things were that period. Many were business owners and businesses were shut down for months and as we know not everyone had the avenue to work from home .Everyone isn’t opportune to work in a government firm either so many weren’t earning that period. Most people lived on their savings and even capital hoping the dark phase ends soon. Asking one to pay tithe when he is not earning is being inconsiderate and if I would say against the law because tithe should be 10% of ones interest , so where were they supposed to get the money from, with businesses shut down? And you saying giving is voluntarily and not by force, I totally agree with you but some pastors will make it look like if you don’t give, you’re far from grace.

    • By your logic, the people who were earning money because they are salaried workers should pay, right? That shoots your argument to pieces because no one expects you to pay tithe on money you have not earned. Some people who work online even made more money during the lockdown, so there’s nothing wrong with encouraging them to give.

The problem many have is lack of knowledge on how things work in cyberspace. They think everything done online is free. That is wrong! If your church holds services via Zoom, the church would need to pay if the service lasts longer than 45 minutes and the participants exceed 100. Data charges are also accumulated. Power charges too, fuel if the public utilities fail. These are some of the the things the tithes and offerings helped with.

For someone to sit at home and accuse pastors without understanding is unfair. Except anyone says giving is compulsory and how many will do that, it is very bad to discourage those who have and are willing to give, simply because one doesn’t have.

      • Ezimora Reliance

“no one expects you to pay tithe on money you have not earned”,I wanted to ask about the tithe part and then I saw your reply. This answers a lot. No wonder the bible says, in all your getting, get wisdom.
Thank you ma for this piece of wisdom, many Christians now neglect the essence of giving.

  • Ekechukwu Francisca

The idea and norm of tithe and offering collection is not something that should warrant complaints as this is meant to encourage the ministers and facilitate the work of God. It is a voluntary will on the part of the giver and as such, one shouldn’t go about knocking ministers on this issue.

  • Jemimah Okwute

Some pastors not all are not called by God, so they open what is called business church. I don’t really blame some Christians. Actually tithe and offerings are important in the life of a Christian. Some pastors will even say giving below 200 naira is wrong.

  • Okafor Agatha Ifeoma

Giving is optional, we need to grow spiritually, inorder not to be forced to do what , we don’t want to do

  • Giving is a personal thing and its voluntary,if you don’t want to give, don’t discourage others who are willing

  • Asogwa Christian Tochukwu

Many Christians struggle with the issue of tithing. In some churches giving is over-emphasized. At the same time, many Christians refuse to submit to the biblical exhortations about making offerings to the Lord. Tithing/giving is intended to be a joy and a blessing. Sadly, that is sometimes not the case in the church today.

  • Chilaka Vivian

The fact still remains that people are too quick to paint black on any matter that concerns the church. One can only give out of the willingness in one’s heart.

  • Nnaji Esther uchechukwu

Since my days in church I have never seen a pastor dragging an individual to give , he only says the need of the church is left for u to know if u really want to give den give and give with all ur heart, and I believe we should see giving to church as our duty becos is from it that the church grows

  • Emilia Edwin

Many pastors and priest have turn giving tithe as a do or die affair, some even go to the extent of laying curses on those that doesn’t pay tithe. To me, tithe is not a major criterion to making heaven…..nice post ma

  • Elijah Akuma

Well, I think that it is necessary for us clearly understand the fact that many wolves have come into the fold, unscrupulously disguising themselves as sheep and thereby deceiving many. Many people who answer pastors hide under such office to defraud their members; this does not mean that genuine pastors do that. I believe that people should work hard to make money and support the work of God.

  • Amalu precious

Giving should come with a personal conviction and as Christians I suppose giving should be part of our daily lifestyle and not something we should find hard to do. So, if as a Christian, you know your contribution would move the ministry of God, please do so✌️

  • Nwatu Vera Chisom

Truth be told, during the lock down I was totally against this online offering giving and payment of tithe, but having read this post I now understand why it was necessary because just like aunty said most churches broadcasted their services online and these things would not be possible if there was no fund available to do them.

  • Okwa Ihuoma Jessica

I fully support you ma. If people decide to give to God through tithes and offerings, why should they be stopped? It is a form of service they render unto to God

  • Victoria Chigere

The argument that they are being extorted by the church is invalid

  • Odumuko Oluchukwu Victoria

    I think its very simple.
For God so loved the world that He gave.
Now, if we really love God as much as we claim to, we will give

  • David Nneka

I believe that tithes is a thing of free will.

  • Manifest Eja

I don’t think there is anything wrong in giving tithes.
The Church can only function physically if you support her with offerings and tithes.
But you can’t give what you don’t have.
No Pastor should make a member give tithes or offering by force. It is a thing of choice.

  • Uchegbu Ogechi Elizabeth

Giving is very important. God said give it shall be given unto u. Covid 19 doesn’t stop you from giving. It even in this period you give more to receive more blessings from God

  • Sunday Chenka Esther

It’s disheartening how some Christians are having issues with paying of tithes and giving offerings. I feel we should learn how to give as God loves cheerful givers. Thanks you so much Ma. May God give us the Grace to give generously.

  • Iyorakpo Dorathy

I believe that giving of tithes and offerings is optional regardless of what means it is being passed, (i.e online) and pastors are just encouraging Christians to give not making it compulsory.

  • Ossai Joy Adanne

Giving is an act you do willingly I have never heard or seen a pastor or priest forcing his parishioners to give to God. But you can also say in the recent times the church has become a market place where people extort money from people in the name of God.

  • Agbo Peace

A giver never lacks as the always say, I don’t think its wise for a Christian to complain before giving an offering to God, its absolutely wrong,Christians should not see it as a selfish interest of some pastors and they should avoid judging pastors and even God is against judging people, one should give wit his heart and always have it in mind that pastor and priest are just figures that represent God, Christians should not think that they are giving it to pastor’s but to God through the pastors

  • Zita Ezechi

    I wonder oo
I also heard the same complaints
Some even made it seem like a sin for the church to collect tithes and offerings online
And they still expected churches to make donations during that period… Where did they expect the money to come from?
Thank you for this eye opener ma

  • Giving has always been a source of blessing in the life of sooo many Christians. The Bible also made it clear that we should give and it shall be given unto us. We are meant to give not necessarily been bothered with who will consume the gift. But we should just have it in our hearts that we are giving to God.

  • Okoli Ifunanya

Giving has never been compulsory but it is very beneficial in the life of a person. Almost all the unusual extraordinary blessings in the Bible were triggered by people’s sacrificial giving; Solomon, The shunammite woman and so on. Apostle Paul told us that it is important to give not for his sake but for us to receive the reward that comes with it. Also, the work of God must go on and it needs adequate funding.

  • Okpechi Amarachi

Giving should be done willingly. The last time I checked,no preacher of the word of God would tell you to give at gun point. If you don’t want to give, don’t give and do not also discourage others from giving.

  • Agbedo Ebubechukwu

Giving tithes and offerings isn’t a bad thing but no one should be forced to do so. It should be something voluntary and comes from the heart of the giver.

  • ‘God loves a cheerful giver’has a powerful meaning especially during these difficult times. Beware of wolves in the ministry but let it not stop you from giving and do not discourage from contributing to the church. God bless you ma!!

  • Ojobo somtochukwu praise

“Give and it shall be given back “, it is not compulsory to give but necessary, give, not just with the intention to receive. Nowadays everything is just what you gain or get and this now applies in some churches.

  • Mercy Nnenna Otisi

The scripture is the scripture; pandemic or no pandemic, giving tithes and offerings are a necessity.

  • UTAZI PATIENCE

Giving is something one give out willingly not compulsory,God sees our heart He knows when we give freely and reward us

  • Emeka Nnaji

As long as you earn wether pandemic or no pandemic you must “pay” your tithe.

  • Okochi Chinonso

Giving to the church is a good thing but it’s not by force. If you have and is willing to give,it’s also good. No one should condemn the pastors for it besides it’s the money that you gave the church that they’ll use to grow it. It’s called support

  • Ama Mitchelle Chisom

I know and believe that the Spirit of God always inspires my givings because i give out of what God has blessed me with for a multiplied harvest of increase.

  • Agbo Chidiebere

I always pay my tithes amidst people’s disagreement with the topic. The Bible emphasized very well on giving and it is a part of spiritual growth. There is nothing wrong in giving back to God who has given us so much. Glory be to him.

  • Obajie Chinonyerem

I don’t know why people complain about paying tithes and offerings online when they carry out most of their transactions online.

  • Ikeh Christiana Chinenye

Offerings and tithes are not compulsory, it’s something that is done at will. And for most people it’s their means of Thanksgiving to God.

  • Azoribe Blessing Amarachi

what I love this! Majority are guilty of this, although some ministers discourages members by always taxing the people. But if you don’t have money don’t discourage others

  • Tosin Ojora

Tithe is a necessity for every Christian, because the Bible urge us to pay our tithes; but the idea of compelling people to give to pastors is not good; people should give because they have to give.

  • Mogekwu Esther

Giving should not be done in or by compulsion. It should be done wholeheartedly. Giving and tithing is a command but one’s resources and willingness is more important.

  • Giving is good, the scripture says “Give and it shall be given unto you”
So I don’t see anything wrong in people paying tithe during lockdown.
Most people were still making money even with the covid19 pandemic period and people were still eating so there’s every cause to give offerings to God

  • Ani Gift Onyinyechi

Thank you ma for this insight. Tithes and offerings are voluntary, virtual payment or physical is also voluntary. Let’s quit condemning paying of tithes and offerings virtually

  • Iheme Akunna

giving is a voluntary issues when it comes to the things of God, I’ve not seen pastors forcing their worshippers to give, donate or sow seed. I have only heard and read up. So my take in all of these is that the world we live in now is gradually drifting away from the tenets of Christian homilies and I pray we reconnect back through his grace.

  • ALEX-UGORJI ESTHER

I have only heard and read up. So my take in all of these is that the world we live in now is gradually drifting away from the tenets of Christian homilies and I pray we reconnect back through his grace.

  • Shalom Oparaugo

From my experience pastors don’t usually force their members to give and giving your tithes and offerings should be from your heart. Anyone not comfortable with this should not discourage others from giving, this very act is Wrong!

  • Ekwueme Victor Obiora

This post is a whole full of cure to many’s misconception of Giving. Giving is an act. No one compels another to give instead we willingly give from our blessings with hope to receive more from the Jireh

  • Nancy Njoku

I think giving is something we do willingly no one compels you to. So I don’t think is right to say that you’re being forced to pay tithes online.

  • Angel Mandy

The act of giving is an avenue to get blessed because it comes with a promise of abundance.

  • Okeke Tochukwu Patricia

I like the way you are always able to portray message and clear widely held perceptions and doings that are false authoritatively and convincingly

  • Anyinachi Winifred

Sometimes, I see giving as a virtue/quality which some people are destitute of .

  • Ide Oluchukwu Cherish

Well tithes are just an act of appreciation unto God , and for the pandemic, it’s simply to help those in need at that crucial time .

  • Eze Chidiebeube Judith

The bible itself encourages tithes and giving. Check with the burnt offerings of the Israelites in the old testament, the offerings offered in the temple to God which are mostly used by the priests and prophets, the poor woman who gave the last of the money she had. Jesus even used her as an example to encourage people to give their tithes and to do so without hypocrisy. Tithes are very necessary, it is a way of aiding God’s work. It is not compulsory but necessary, therefore anybody who can should and anybody who can’t shouldn’t. There is no need to disencourage others.

  • Okoro Charity Oluchukwu

Accusing pastors on this matter is very wrong. Since I started going to church, I haven’t seen anyone forced to pay tithe.
We should be mindful on how we talk about men of God to avoid the wrath of God.

  • oboni veronica

As a Christian I don’t think that offering and tithes are mandary but is necessary to do because It help to open doors that are closed against you and your family.

  • Jane Odoh

Giving offering and tithe are not compulsory if a person can’t afford to give, but it spiritually okay to give

  • Giving is not compulsory but for me it is a necessity not just in the church but where ever the need arise and someone have the ability to give.

  • I feel that individuals shouldn’t be force in giving offering and tithes to God and it should not be compulsory, but as Christians our tithes and offerings shouldn’t be neglected because it paves way for us.

  • Angel Mandy

Giving should not be a thing of force, but a thing of choice. At the end of the day God blesses a cheerful giver.

  • Okereke victoria chigemezu

Giving tithes and offerings are not compulsory if a person can’t afford it.

  • Sonia Ubani

Giving shouldn’t be imposed on christains. It should be a thing of choice.

  • Evelyn Johnny

People should learn to give willingly as stated in the word of God

  • Whoever is capable enough should give to the church, it’s a way of supporting God’s church and ministrations.

  • Giving offering and tithes is a choice, Gods not forcing anyone but don’t anticipate God to bless you as He blesses others that are cheerful givers.
If you don’t have to give God understands and sees your heart.

  • Winner Favour

I have heard complaints about this collection of tithes and offerings online and this is what I think.
The Bible instructed us to pay our tithes which we are expected as Christians to obey. It doesn’t matter if we have to pay it online. Besides, the whole world experienced the pandemic and most activities had to be done from home.
The Bible also asked us to give cheerfully. So as we give our offerings and tithes to God, let us do so cheerfully without bothering ourselves about what it will be used for or where the money goes into

  • Uderika onyinyechi gift

Tithes and offerings are means of giving to God’s vineyard. Christians should not see it as a selfish interest to the pastors for there is great tribulation awaiting he who covets what belongs to the father and the wise men know to give honor unto whom it is due.

  • Ifechukwu Izueke

Generosity to the church is not bad

  • Ezenwanne Chisom Akunna

When we give tithes and offering we are not giving it to our pastors or bishops but God.and by doing so we create open door for our self

  • umeaku obianuju

If we know the benefit and blessingthat comes with tithing then People , especially christians won’t be complaining.

  • Ezimora Reliance

When you understand what the ministry of Christ entails, you will no longer argue about giving or not giving. You will rather yearn to give. I learnt this piece from my coordinator in church. There is truth in the saying, Givers never Lack. If you meet a giver that lacks, that person isn’t giving right, kpom kwem.

  • Glory Odogwu Chikaodinaka

    I feel giving is voluntarily.
if you’re led to give, then I feel you should.
    a beautiful write up ma.

  • Abah precious

It’s all a matter of choice
At times people might not really have that much to give
So it’s better we give whenever we feel like

  • Mboutidem Godwin Samuel

anyways, Online or offline, it is very necessary to pay our tithes and offerings.
He said, “do this and see, if I will not open the windows of heaven”…
As Christians that understand the word, we shouldn’t be compel to give. Freely we received freely we should give out.

  • Rosemary

Judge not that you’ll not be judged. Let’s remember that the ministers and priests are representatives of Christ and anyone who speaks against them, speaks against Him who sent them.

  • Omolola Akande

We need to learn to give wholeheartedly to God’s work and come to the realization that God’s work needs money here on earth to prosper and we are the ones to give for it.

  • Amadi Doris Nmesoma

Nobody is mandated to give offering and tithes to men of God. If you have, you can give; if you don’t; don’t discourage others who are willing to give.

  • Tekevwe Macaulay

The Bible commanded us to pay tithes and that we should do.

Many people just have a closed hands and don’t want to give. The Bible said bring 10 percent.

As Christians never eat your tithe. Pay it.

    Thanks ma.

Pastors are not the ones that postulated the law of giving tithes. It’s in the holy book! As Christians, it’s an obligation too!

So, i don’t see reasons why they should be reprimanded for trying to remind their members of God’s words.

  • Ekene Emmanuella kosisochi

People should stop complaining and see it as the normal Sunday program process but I don’t blame them because there are lot fake Internet men of God who would use this medium to extort money from people.

  • Agwubuo Ebube

We all should learn and exhibit the habit of giving both to God and to mankind.

  • Okolie-Ekwuazi Zutem Nonyelum

The instructions about tithing is very clear in the Scriptures. I strongly believe Christians should tithe and there is a blessing that comes with it too. All the same, it shouldn’t be imposed because giving should come from a genuine heart.

  • Odoabuchi Joy Ngozika

All giving in the church is voluntary and needful

One can indeed be called into full-time ministry, but it wouldn’t be bad if they have means of income such as book publishing

  • Pearl

The concept of giving as a Christian should not be a problem but now because as a Christian giving a nature our Lord Jesus Christ gave his life for us and it is a principle that we should give as a Christian not because of the blessing but because it’s our nature.

  • Jesse Chioma Favour

The concept of giving for me cannot be over emphasized because, if one knows the importance of it, he or she won’t wait to be preached about it; even church related givings.

  • Odiase Osazee Erico

pastors and other religious leaders have the right to encourage their congregants to give, but it should always be done in a respectful and non-coercive manner. Giving should always be voluntary, and no one should feel pressured or manipulated into giving beyond their means.

  • “uncomplaints against collection of Tithes and offerings during covid-19 pandemic. Tithing and offerings in the church has forever been a topic of debate since from old. In as much as offerings has references to the Bible, giving Tithes to pastors is not compulsory and no one should be judged for not giving offering in the church. Some individuals prefer giving their Tithes or offerings to beggers in street as a way of reaching out to God instead of giving to the Pastors.

  • Ozioko Glory Oluchi

My problem is that many christians are too lazy to study the word of God. They wait for who to read and interpret the scripture from them and feed them like babies. And because they can’t differentiate between the raw and the diluted word of God, they will swallow everything shamelessly.
This is why it is easy for religious rebels to confuse christians.
The issue of tithe and offering is clearly stated in the bible, and I am sure that those who truly know the word were not moved by what anyone had to say about it, despite the challenges brought about by COVID-19 pandemic.
How I wish christians can embrace bible study, it will make a huge difference in this generation.

  • Nelly Otoko

I completely agree with this post. It’s unfair for people to criticize churches for collecting tithes and offerings online, especially during a pandemic when physical gatherings are not possible. As the post mentioned, giving has always been voluntary, and pastors are simply providing options for those who wish to give. I think it’s important for us to support our pastors and churches during a such difficult time

  • Gbatalibe uchenna Mildred

something that comes from the heart .we should always have it in mind that while giving our offering,it is true that it is the pastor or priest that we see but we are actually giving God because they are the representative of God.

  • Ugwuoke Peace Amarachi

Tithes and offerings are really necessary
If you have to give, give and don’t forget givers never lack

  • adeeyo Stephen

God bless you ma for this post.
It is important that Christians understand this: that they are not doing God a favor by paying their tithe or given for the growth of the kingdom.
In everything we do, there are expenses and money are needed for them including kingdom matters.

  • Nwako Chikodili Scholastica

Church offering and tithes are not to be given with compulsion but as christians we must always remember that Tithe is a command from God which we must obey.

  • Edoriawhe Faith Avweruesuoghene

It is good to cheerfully give our offerings unto God for God loves a cheerful giver.

  • I believe that giving should not be obligatory, and individuals should not feel compelled to give . Your post is insightful, and I appreciate it, ma. Thank you.

  • Okoye Paul Ketachukwu

Giving is sorely from the heart and one should not give if he’s not led to. It’s only a fake priest that will compel his church members to give even when one cleary doesn’t have.
