WHAT IF …? (My Musings about the US 2020 Presidential Election)

What if Jeff Bezos, the world’s richest man and Amazon founder, were to throw his weight behind Donald Trump, his well-known foe, in the US presidential race due to the insensate attacks on billionaires and the socialist inclinations of Democratic Party presidential hopefuls?

And what if as a result, the Washington Post, owned by Bezos, tones down its anti-Trump rhetoric and tries to balance its coverage of the White House?

What if other billionaires were to follow Bezos’ enlightened self-interest example and support Trump as well with their donations and media holdings’ unbiased coverage?

What if other media follow WaPo’s lead and give Trump credit when he deserves it and criticise him constructively, leaving maybe the CNN whose ratings are currently in the toilet anyway compared to FoxNews? The latter though right-leaning does not drown out leftist voices, particularly since its purchase by the Murdochs in 2018.

What if (in other words and even in the absence of the foregoing) the prophecy given by Mark Taylor in 2011* that the mainstream media will agree with Trump (incredible though it sounds right now) is fulfilled in the near future? Trump has his flaws but it would be nice for the mainstream media to revert to truthful, fair and balanced coverage of news, including news about Trump.

The truth is- the average person is sick of liberal talking heads that are constantly spewing nonsense in the media and feeling that they can think for everyone else. People just want the facts and balanced interpretation, a representation of different points of views so that they can make up their minds. Whatever happened to the free marketplace of ideas?

So what if all the aforementioned were to happen and conservative/godly voices began to get their fair share of airtime and space in the media?

What if, as a result, the reverence for godlessness, insanity and socialist fantasies were checked and a restoration of traditional, godly and entrepreneurial values occurred?

What if, most importantly, a massive Christian revival broke out in the circumstances and spread beyond the US to cover the earth?

What if …?

I believe that all things are possible to those who believe, and pray. Our ‘what if’s’ may be just a prayer away.

Postscript: It’s obvious I want Trump to win, again. I’m one of those who believed he was chosen by God for such a time as this even without knowing about prophecies made about him, like the one by Mark Taylor. And I believe that he can win again even if the scenarios I painted above do not materialise because God can do the impossible if He chooses to.

Some of the reasoning behind my stance went into many Facebook posts and comments. Thankfully, some of it is captured in the following related posts.

Check out these posts, if you will.

If God really chose Trump as the president, then he will surely win because God is the God of possibilities.

God has the final say and I believe a time will come when people with the fear of the Lord will rule.

    • I pray so for Nigeria. And I pray that Trump will be more divinely-directed in his official dealings and have greater prayer support from Christians going forward in Jesus’ name.

What people always see is the bad side of people, like you pointed out earlier everyone has their flaws, and for the world to be better people should be assessed based on their good and bad sides.

Up until now I use to see Trump as a bad man, due to his lack of “leadership character”(or so I thought). But now all I can say is God please have your way and let your will be done.

I remember watching CNN some weeks ago and thinking to myself if this news outlet were given a command to discredit Trump however I believe God has a purpose for allowing Trump to be there.

I think you should send this to Trevor Noah…the man makes a living out of trash talking Donald Trump?

Can’t really say much about Trump but I know humans don’t deserve to be judged by other humans

Trump is the Man who the World Christian society needs now.
If America gets to be ruled by a democrat after the forthcoming elections and America lands into a problem, I will totally blame the media totally. I thought the media is meant to help develop the society? Now, they seem to be opposing development through the incessant reportage of Trump’s flaws and the low report of his good acts.
Trump faces a lot of challenges in performing his presidential duties and the media is one of them.
May our prayers for Trump be answered in Jesus name…Amen

In as much as he may have some flaws or were he did not get it all right but the way they are going about it is not really okay because even those pointing accusing fingers on him are not perfect themselves but one thing I know is that the will of God will be done.

I’ve said this severally, and I’ll say it again: Americans will have a much harder time than they ever imagined if Trump is imeached or loses election.
And yes, the impossible could happen because it just takes one event for people to realise how wrong their biases have been.
And I daresay cheers to when your “what ifs” materialise.

In my own view, I can’t really say if Trump is a bad leader and at the same time it’s not good for people to badly criticise leaders because you might actually misjudge them when they might actually be good in what they’re doing. My prayer in this 2020 American election is that God chooses the right candidate to come into power

‘What if, most importantly, a massive Christian revival broke out in the circumstances and spread beyond the US to cover the earth?’ I honestly pray for these days and i pray it happens in my generation

God works in a mysterious way, in as much as I don’t like Trump due to some reasons, I still believe he might be who God wanna use to change the status quo….. I mean worldwide

Your fantasies are not out of place ma, that is my earnest desire too. But whether those wishes come true or not, like you said, if Donald Trump is sent by God, as I believe he is, to placate the plight of Christians, God will definitely make him victorious in the coming election. And don’t forget, his first election was miraculous. Thank God, he has been acquitted by the Senate. That’s an indication that God’s hand is upon him.
We only need to be praying for him ceaselessly to overcome every opposition, both spiritually and physically.

All we can do is continue with the “what if’s” and leave everything to the creator to arrange in the proper way

What will be will be. We just need to be careful and prayerful.

Trump is not really a bad leader but anything you do in life,u must be criticized.

If our “what if (s)? ” is acted upon, then it will be what is!

  • Chukwuemeka uchechukwu pepertua

I believe that God knows why it happen like that, let us leave everything to the creator.

    Everything is possible.

Things sometimes happen for a reason. Maybe that’s the way God want him to show that he’s a great president,
Because what will be will be no matter what.

  • Mbakwe Rebecca Turning point

I’m reading this when another election is around the corner(lol) Well, I’m happy Trump wants to run again and if it’s God’s will he will win if not then God’s will would prevail

  • Our what if? for any situation is just a prayer

  • Agwuna kamsiyochukwu chidinma

everything happens for a reason and this shows that when God’s time reaches nothing can stop it.

Our musings would gradually turn to reality, we believe

All things will turn out for good for those who love God and desire always for his will

Everyone has defects, as you mentioned earlier, thus for the world to improve people should be judged on both their positive and negative attributes. People are only ever seen from their negative side
