From the time you rouse to the time you turn in
I watch you with bated breath in hopefulness
I make advances, bold and demure, to catch your eye
From the crisp air you inhale at night with gladness
To the warm breeze that caresses your skin by day
Through every face that smiles at you, I implore
And every kindness shown to you, I inspire
But you are yet to acknowledge my affection
And it seems you misunderstand my intention
You often claim that you and I are close enough
But you forget there’s a bridge you need to cross
Still, I will not give up on you; still, my love awaits!

  • This is very lovely, gracious, and edifying. The message is saliently clear. Thanks for sharing ma’am.

    Dats so nice..

  • hyginus

That’s a nice one. At times it’s like that in life. You see sb seriously in love with another and the person loved is not aware or at times doesn’t show concern at all. I think he who is in love should be bold to make himself known rather than rigmaroling in mind or thought. And again, if you are admired by someone and you don’t like the person, perhaps you are in love with another who doesn’t recognize your existence, I’ll advise that you treat the first person well and the other one wiil come to you.

  • hyginus

My initial comment was basically attributed to earthly life and human affairs but looking at it critically, this piece is rich in God’s message to sinners whom God continues patiently to remind of His love and waits for them to repent. It’s a nice work indeed.

  • Wow, so beautiful! Thank you for sharing your heart here. xo

  • I love this line: And every kindness shown to you I inspire. I will be on the lookout for God’s loving kindness today.

    • Edith Ohaja

We all need the grace to love God more but we need to first of all establish a relationship with Him by repenting of our sins and accepting Jesus Christ as our Lord and Saviour. May God’s blessings abound to you and your family in Jesus’ name.

  • Ikwuakam Oluchi Francisca

Like ‘yet to acknowledge your affection’ and ‘misunderstand your intention’,I almost misunderstood the intent of the poem. Its an inspiration, well written and messages gotten.

  • Victoria Nonike

Lol. Frankly, i misunderstood the poem at first but after grasping the meaning, we should endeavour to run to the Lord as quickly as we can. He shouldn’t be kept waiting.

  • Akabuike Chisom

I love this Ma, the poem says it all, repent of your sins our love Jesus would always be there waiting for us to come back to him

  • Anyadubalu Oluchi Maryrose

Actually, the initial stage, i was struggling to understand the poem clearly, but after I had thoroughly gone through it again it became clear. Lord’s love awaits you and I and so we need to repent and go back to Him for He is ever ready to accept us back.

  • Ozoguejiofor Uche Jacinta

True love is hard to find. A patient one even. We should best recognise it on time and do t he needful.

  • Egbo Rita Somtochukwu

God’s love forever awaits for us. Even in our bad ways he is ever ready to receive us. We should forever appreciate his undiluted love for his people…

  • Dike Gerald Osinachi

The lovely voice is capable of melting a stone heart. The voice is drunk in passion for the object of the love. This is how to know a deep love. Even when it is unreciprocated, it continues yearning sweetly for attention. A lovely one.

  • Onwusonye promise

Who is the person being talked to here. May be me or him. The voice is very lovely. Uttering unpainted words of affection. The one being addressed will soon say, “here I come”. Very nice.

  • Agwu Tochukwu Frank

This is full of love. “Still I will not give up on you”. That’s a patient love. True in intention. God’s love is deeper than the ocean depth. He calls on us to acknowledge his undying love for us.

  • Adonu Ifeanyichukwu B

  • Queen

    True. God’s love awaits.
Tenderly waiting with open arms even after we derail and make useless Christ death. Its an honour to be shown such love.

  • iheanyi ugochi elizabeth

Jesus is patiently waiting for that moment when we will say ‘God come into my life’ like a desperate girl waiting for the boyfriend to propose, and he will never get tired of waiting for that moment because his love endureth forever.

  • Nwele Euphemia Uzoamaka

OH MY GOD! I had goose pimples all over my body while reading this!

  • Bessong Faith Ada

God’s Love is unending, unshakable and incomparable. What we need to do is just to give our lives to Christ, worship Him, and acknowledge Him. God’s love is sufficient and has no bound. Nice poem Ma’am.

  • Anyalewechi Chinaza

Christ incomparable love awaits us.let us stop procrastinating and cross the bridge so as not to keep him waiting.

  • judith

His love is never failing, great post ma, we just need to fill the spaces and feel his great love.

  • Excess love of God, he loves us so much.. We just need to try to walk in truth and in spirit.

  • Idika Uloma Sophia

God’s love is the greatest love of all. No matter how far we have gone in sin, He still loves us and ever ready to welcome anyone who is ready to receive Him. Love is patients, longsuffering and finds no faults. This poem is encouraging.

  • Paschal Odigonma Victoria

God wants us to hear him when he calls us. Most times we Christians don’t pay attention to God and His will for us. I pray God strengthens us to cross the bridge and be one with Him as he wants us to.

  • theophilus anthony blessing

Jesus is standing at the door, please let’s open the door for him to come in.

  • anabude oluchi m.

God love is so encompasing and even in our sins his love shows us the way to the Father. In every circumtance of our life, His love speaks for us and it is the secret behind our success. So in essence, we should endevour to accept Him as our personal Lord and Saviour if we have not done so.

  • This poem is like a reminder, reminding me that God awaits my response to his genuine love.
“…I will not give up on you; still my love awaits you” ? shows how merciful God is.
Thank you for this reminder piece.

  • That bridge we need to cross is giving our life to Christ ..if we have a tiny idea of God’s love for us and what he does for us everyday we’ll forever be indebted to him

  • Helen.Onugwu

The greatest love one can experience is the love of God…and for those who are contemplating there is no time and tomorrow can be too late

  • How sincere our Gods Love on us is. No matter how many times we drift away from him, He always welcome us with open mind. His banner over us is Love. I Love you God.

  • Kat

Your poems about God never cease to speak to my soul aunty. It’s a beautiful gift you have. You tell us that God is behind every smile and every kindness that we receive and I really do believe you. He tries so valiantly to catch our eye, to get our attention through the good deeds people do for us and through the sweetness of nature. But we fail to see him standing right there, so close, waiting for us to acknowledge him and run to give him a hug. He says he wants us to cross the bridge and get closer to him and I believe the time has come for us to answer his plea. This post pulls at my heartstrings. Thank you so much

  • Oshana Oyaku Endurance

Indeed God is love, Its the best love we have ever experience since the beginning of the world

  • Agnes

God is ever patient and loving. Waiting for all to come to repentance. Beautiful poem. Thanks for sharing ma

  • The unacknowledged love is the worse of them all. God’s love is unconditional. But I set a standard about not dating until I graduate but I am admiring someone from afar of. I know the person will never acknowledge or even know my name and I feel that helps me sets my standard. Is it right?

    • Edith Ohaja

Let God lead you. He alone knows whether you can cope with the distraction of being in a relationship while in school and whether you can resist the temptations that come with it. Pray and seek His guidance. Bless you!

  • Chinelobi Treasure Oluchi

God’s love is unconditional and patient. It is reckless to keep loving and waiting for us even when we push Him away.

  • Richards Orighomisan

“Oh, the overwhelming, never ending, reckless love of God, oh it chases me down, fights till I’m found leaves the ninety – nine, I couldn’t earn it, and I don’t deserve it, oh the overwhelming, never ending, reckless love of God ” (lyrics from the song reckless love) This poem just reminded me of the song.

In the spirit of love and everything that beclouds it..the season should not make us forget that there is one love sufficient for all of us..the love through which he paid the ultimate love beats that..great piece ma.

  • Agha Onyinye Judith

Dear poet, may your love not wait in vain ❤️

    • Whose love is waiting? I want to be sure you understand that although the poem was written in the first person, the poet wasn’t talking about herself. Or did you just comment without reading?
