SNAPPY VIEW OF MY BIO AND THE BLOG

Hi! You are welcome to edithohaja.com. I want to tell you a little about myself and the blog so you’ll be reassured you’ve come to the right place.

image

I said I am a bouquet of grace (right under my pic). You’re probably wondering what that means. It means my life has been decorated and is filled with the grace of God. It also means that you will find me exuding grace, even in the secular meaning of the word.

Now that we’ve got that cleared up, let me tell you more about myself. I am a university lecturer. I teach Mass Communication, mostly writing courses like Feature and Interpretative Writing, Magazine Article Writing and News Writing, and let’s just say I’ve been doing this for a long time.

As you have probably guessed, I am a born-again Christian. It’s very exciting, being a believer, I mean. To be in a close personal relationship with God changes everything in a person’s life: it ennobles you, broadens your access to resources for solving problems (after all, your father and friend owns the whole universe) and it gives you hope, not just for this life but for the hereafter. You see, I’m already sharing the gospel with you, which is one of the things I love doing.

Other things I love to do in my spare time include counselling the youth, listening to music, watching movies and, of course, creative writing. Since you are reading this, you may have seen some of the stuff I’ve written. If not, don’t go away so soon. Go through the categories of this blog and keep doing so subsequently.

You will find inspirational, educational and entertaining articles, fictional and nonfictional stories, poems, insightful quotes and graphics. I can promise you it will all be worth your while. You will pick up something for your intellect, have your emotions stirred (through heart-touching and humourous posts) and receive a spiritual awakening or strengthening. I’m not bragging. I’ve been told this by many others who have read my work, all glory to God!

As is to be expected, one of these many who cherish my writing is a guy that I’m married to. His name is Richard Okujeni. How can I describe him? He is kind, intelligent, fun to be with; in short, he is wonderful. Perhaps, I should add that he holds a Ph.D in Mass Communication. Awesome!

I think I should wrap this up by assuring you that I am here to serve you and it will be a pleasure to hear how this blog has affected you on any of the comment threads under posts or via auntyedithonline@gmail.com.

Subscribing to my blog, edithohaja.com, will entitle you to mail updates of my posts and to be entered in giveaways that God graciously passes through me. I can also be reached through some social media platforms You can like my Facebook page, Aunty Edith.

Or if you prefer, you can follow me on Instagram, GooglePlus (1), GooglePlus (2), Twitter (1), Twitter (2), Pinterest and StumbleUpon. Plus, you can connect with me on LinkedIn.

You are sooo blessed! Jesus is Lord!

Your blog is reasonably loaded, flooded with life transforming info. This confirms the impression I had about u when I first read ur books on feature writing and magazine article writing – that you are a prolific writer; and sitting to receive ur lectures as ur student then in the university was a pleasure and great learning. Indeed, u have something upstairs 4 ur generation and beyond. But although d snappy nature of ur bio did not make room for detailed description of d parental rock from which u were hewed, I join to salute them for being instrumental in giving u, a blessing, to d world. And your husband, if I’m opportune to see him, I should salute him too 4 making a good choice.

  • Nice to meet you, Edith. I once was in Lagos for three days as a college student aboard World Campus Afloat (1967), now called Semester at Sea. We had to leave a day early, I am sad to say as the Biafran uprisings were giving our director and Nigerian officials concern. But I am grateful to have been there and been able to go out of the city and into the country for one of the days. We meet many wonderful people and I was just a kid!..well…19 years old!
    Caring through Christ, ~ linda

I’m so excited to meet you, Linda! My side of the country was devastated by the civil war but through the help of God and our industriousness, we have caught up and, some say, exceeded other parts. Will check your site soon. You are highly blessed in Jesus’ name.

  • Wow! Love your Bio aunt Edith. Well expressed

  • Rita

Knowing you as a G Friend is a blessing.. You are truly kind and compassionate..Your writings are rich, have depth, and you have a very warm imagery style of writing which I enjoy reading.. 🙂 You are a blessing wherever you go. a tree planted by the waters, giving fruit all the time!

    • Edith Ohaja

Awww, it’s so sweet of you to say this, Rita! And I could say the exact same thing about you. Your stories are so evocative and always convey profound lessons. It was lonely for me on the blogging circuit posting poems and stories which most people overlooked. Everyone seemed to prefer the direct approach: give them a devotional, a how-to guide (6 steps to this or that). But ever since you’ve come along, the stories that weave in lessons are getting better attention. Thank you for being such a constant and loyal friend. Thank you for sharing your poems and stories unwaveringly. Thank you for being such a big inspiration and encouragement to me and others. Love you to the third power, my dear sis! If we don’t meet this side of heaven, it will be a glorious time when we embrace before the throne of our Father. Cheers! ?????

You are indeed an epitome of everything beautiful. You are one of the lecturers in the department who have really carved a niche for themselves academic wise. Truth be told, I once told myself that if a personality like you with so much work load can still create enough time for God, how much more I, a student who has not trod half the places you have trod upon. Thank you, ma, for being such an inspiration to me. May God continue to reward you.

    • Edith Ohaja

Wow, such kind words! Amen to your prayer and may God use you beyond your imagination in Jesus’ name.

it’s a pleasure knowing you, ma. one thing that surprises me more about you is how lenient you are to students, you just laugh out everything, despite their annoying character, that even me cannot take so lightly. i wonder if I’ve ever seen you angry for the past three years of knowing you….your blog is really educational and a food to the soul. i pray that the Good Lord you serve grant you more wisdom to keep up with the good work… amen

You teach for real most writing courses and it has been of help to me and your blog has been a help to me and fellow students. You are a born-again can not be far fetched from your stories in the blog. What you present to the world depicts your belief and absence of bad taste. The use of creativity in your short stories, poems and musings are all wonderful. Your hobbies all relate to your personality and belief. What amazes me and my friends is that wonderful laughter of yours that does not depend on things around. It comes from the joy within which Jesus has given you to become a laughter outside that knows no bounds. You laugh without considering situation and we your students are grateful that we all find ourselves laughing in the classroom as you laugh. You teach in the class with style. Well done, ma. The Lord continue to give you wisdom, inspiration and strength that will impact people around for the growth of our society.

  • Wonderful writing. i was struck with a sapiophilia just by reading this. But there was an error of a misspelled word “Ennobles” instead of “Enables”. Do well to correct it. I have pinned this website to my homepage and i am not leaving it anytime soon.

    • Edith Ohaja

Thank you but there’s no misspelling. I said that having a relationship with God “ennobles you”, that means it makes you dignified, noble, honourable…. Bless you!
