A MIND OF HER OWN (II) SHORT STORY

The Story So Far
God used Didi, a civil servant and part-time evangelist, to lead Bridget to Christ a little over a year ago. Didi has been very supportive and now she’s arranging for Bridget to marry Zion, a brother in their church. But Bridget wants none of that because of what she sees as Didi’s overbearing attitude and when the latter insists, they have a blowup during a church vigil, Bridget declaring she has a mind of her own and implying that her mother in the Lord might be using charismatic witchcraft on her!

A MIND OF HER OWN (II)
The next day, Bridget was sleeping in because the vigil had ended about 6 a.m. However, a persistent rap on her door woke her up a little after 9 a.m. She came to open the door of the room she shared off campus with another student who had travelled for the weekend. While she was squinting because of the sunlight streaming in through the door, Didi pushed past her into the room.

“Somebody needed to rise and shine!” she declared, turning to look at Bridget. “Zion made me promise to see you, now I’ve done that and I can leave.”

Bridget blocked her way and ventured, “Wait a minute! About yesterday, …”

“Yes, about yesterday, you called me a witch!”

“I probably shouldn’t have done that.”

“But you did and what worries me is that you are not the first person that has done so. Haters must hate but you know I’m not in any coven.”

Bridget stretched and went to check the time on her phone. She was hoping Didi would leave so she could sleep some more but there didn’t seem to be any chance of that, so she offered her breakfast. They had bread with sardines and a cocoa drink in silence. As they drained their mugs, Didi suddenly asked, “So why exactly did you call me a witch?”

Bridget groaned and replied, “I thought we were done with that.”

“That’s a terrible accusation that you made, young lady. God knows I’ve never sucked anybody’s blood my whole life.”

“Mummy, witchcraft is more than stirring cauldrons in covens, flying on brooms and sucking blood. When you use your spiritual power to terrorise people and have your way, you are just as guilty.”

“Terrorise is a strong word, you know? When did I ever terrorise anyone?”

“I could give you lots of examples but just one will do. Remember how you got your present flat. You went there and proclaimed that you were ejecting the occupants, that they will ‘know no peace till they pack out’. Those were your exact words, Two weeks later, they did and you moved in. At the time, I joined you to celebrate. But looking back, I think it’s wrong to cast a spell on a family just to get something of theirs that you want.”

“That is called taking dominion. You are a baby Christian. Later, you will understand.”

“I’d rather remain a baby Christian than operate that way. I don’t think we are supposed to think only of ourselves or use the power of God for our personal convenience. Jesus certainly didn’t act like that.”

?

“You’re missing the whole point …”

“No, you are the one missing the point. If you think that God approves of what you did, how come you’ve not had a single day of peace since you packed in there? You’ve quarreled with all the other tenants, the caretaker, the landlord; you have two police cases and one matter in court. You even have severe strife in your family now. Mummy, can’t you see? The blessings of God make rich and He adds no sorrow with them. You brought all this on yourself by creating the wrong spiritual ambience before moving in there. You are now a victim of your own spell!”

[bctt tweet=”… God is not mocked: whatsoever a man sows, that shall he reap – Galatians 6:7.” username=”edithohaja1″]

“The devil is fighting me because of the work I do for God,” Didi protested as she stood up.

“You don’t honestly believe that, do you? I used to envy your courage and fighting spirit, but now I’ve seen that most of your battles would be quite unnecessary if you stop playing God unduly.”

“You’re talking of courage, where did you get the nerve to talk to me like this?” Didi asked as she watched Bridget who was still seated in front of the reading table where they had just eaten.

“I got it from the love of God in my heart for you. Sometimes, I even fear for your life. These things you are doing have serious consequences, if not in this life, then at the judgment seat of Christ. When you keep threatening or releasing death and disaster on people to get something or because you feel wronged, someday the chickens will come home to roost.” She paused but sensing that Didi was willing to hear her out, she forged ahead.

“Jesus suffered hardship, he endured many offences. When his disciples wanted to destroy a Samaritan village that won’t let them pass, he told them that wasn’t the kind of spirit he had given them. Where is the fruit of patience when you can’t wait to receive the blessings of God? You must take whatever you want now, now. And where is the meekness of Christ when people can’t talk to you for fear you’ll accuse them of insulting the anointing on your life? They only ask you to pray when they are having problems. Even some pastors are afraid that if they challenge you, you’ll have them dismissed or close down their churches. You are a powerful evangelist, Mummy, but many of the things you do are just not in the spirit of the gospel.”

Didi, who had been listening with rapt attention, seemed to have lost the strength in her legs and went to sit on the bed. She cupped her face in her hands for a while before looking up to address Bridget.

“Earlier I told you that I came here because of a promise to Zion but that was not the whole truth. I couldn’t sleep after the vigil and I felt I was supposed to see you. Now I know why. For some time, I’ve been having some bad dreams, you know, dreams of untimely death. All the while, I’ve been praying ‘Back to sender’ about them, but something just hit me as you spoke now. It seems I have neglected to search my life first before assuming the attack is coming from outside.”

“I was not prophesying or anything like that oh! You are an anointed woman of God and I love you so much. I can never forget what God has used you to do in my life. Please in any way I’ve sounded disrespectful …”

“Hold on! It’s like you don’t understand what has just happened here. Even though I’m your mother in the Lord, God sent me to you to tell me something no one else will.” She shook her head, paused and exhaled. Bridget, on her part, came and sat beside her on the bed and she continued.

“All the while I thought you were rebellious, you know, refusing to imitate me in everything but now I thank God that you didn’t. Because of that, God was able to use you to reach me. You can’t believe the level of conviction* I am feeling right now. I need to thoroughly recalibrate my life. I know very well it’s not something I can do overnight. This is the way I was discipled.* It’s the way we carry on in the circles where I move. But I need to start somewhere. I’m going to spend the next one week in the presence of God. I beg you to stand in the gap for me* because I really need the mercy of God.”

[bctt tweet=”Bear you one another’s burdens, and so fulfil the law of Christ – Galatians 6:2.” username=”edithohaja1″]

“Mummy, I consider this a very great honour. I will gladly wait on the Lord* with you. And while we are doing that, I will pray about Brother Zion. I got some really good vibes when he talked with me last night but I want to confirm the Holy Spirit is okay with it before starting any relationship with him.”

“Praise the Lord! I feel so relieved now,” Didi exclaimed and stood up.

“Me too,” Bridget echoed as she joined her. Then they reached out simultaneously and held each other in a long embrace.

-The end-

*conviction here refers to the understanding that one is guilty
*discipled means trained
*stand in the gap for me means pray (intercede) for me
*To wait on the Lord is to skip some or all meals for a period and devote the time to prayer

hmm.. sometimes we twist the scripture to suit our actions but never know that we are dancing in ignorance.
one thing I noticed here is that when we feel too important and beyond correction, pride comes in, which usually leads to sin. But when we zero our mind to listen to others despite their age or status, we open up ourselves to revelation which unveils the truth. Humility is a virtue… Quite inspiring and instructive story…Ride on, MA

You’re right, Godwin! No one is above error. We do well to remember that. You are highly blessed in Jesus’ name.

  • WOW ! (American expression of amazement) This is powerful, interesting, beautiful……….. just as you pointed out…….about how iron sharpeneth iron, and none of us are above making a mistake, and needing correction, no matter how well meaning we are. We need each other, and we need God and the Holy Spirit which He shares. Thank you for this awesome story Edith. Hugs to you dear sister in Christ.

    • Edith Ohaja

Thank you for the kudos, Tammy! All glory to God! Hope school and other stuff are going well at your end. May the Lord continue to overshadow you and your family with His love and goodness in Jesus’ name.

  • Amadi victoria chinwendu

Working with God entails alot therefore all we should do is to always pray for His grace so as not to deviate from the faith especially due to overconfidence or the spiritual superiority we may have gathered. This also shows that God can reach out to us at anytime and through anybody. Thank you ma for this hidden truth you have brought out to light; i am happy because i have benefited from it.

  • Eze Benjamin Oduma

One of the issues we face in “the now” Christianity is that some of us do not really understand the personality and character of the person (Christ), whom we profess to emulate. We take Christianity too far from what it actually is. Again, most people tend to fly beyond control when they happen to occupy any position in the Church of God. Meanwhile, I thank God for Mummy Didi for at least seeing reasons with her mentee and acknowledging her mistakes. I sincerely pray that same should happen to those of us who misunderstand the true meaning of Christianity. Ma, I had wished the episodes continued, but thank God for other upcoming posts.

    • Edith Ohaja

Amen. May God help us to discern wise counsel and listen to it always and may we not bring a reproach to the name of the Lord in Jesus’ name.

  • Kat

I read the first part of this story and decided to read the ensuing one before commenting. I applaud Bridget’s confidence. It must not have been easy to disagree outright with her spiritual mother’s actions and way of life but I’m glad she did. At least now Didi’s life will change for the better and Bridget can exercise her spiritual and *winks* emotional liberty. It’s a win win. You couldn’t have written a more perfect ending ma’am. I’m secretly glad Brother Zion still has a fighting chance for Bridget’s heart and mad at Didi for almost ruining what will definitely be a match made in heaven. I’m beginning to rant#sighs#I’m a hopeless romantic.Anyway I think what I’m trying to say is good job Ma. Write more stories please#smiles#

    • Edith Ohaja

Lol! I will, by God’s grace! Hope you are having a wonderful time at home. May God grant you surplus provisions for the new academic year in Jesus’ name.

  • This story is really inspiring and thought-provoking. God can use anyone at all to bless you, despite age or class in the society. The story ended in the most wonderful of ways and I feel so blessed stopping by today!

  • Ugama Gloria Nkechinyere

This story is thought provoking. It is not good to look down on anyone no matter how sinful they might be in the past, they might be the one to relieve you of your burden. Having followed this story from part 1, I think it is a nice one and a story to write home about.

    • Edith Ohaja

Praise God! Children often speak deep and profound things. We can learn a lot from them, how much more youths. So no one should despise another because they are young.

  • Munachimso Precious

This is beautiful. I like how Bridget handled the situation. This is what Christianity should be. Walking in love and being there to help one another stand in faith. Thanks Ma for such a wonderful story.

  • A lesson to be learnt. Christianity has absolutely nothing to do with age difference but the presence of God’s love. God can use anybody.

  • Orji Chidiebube Prudence

Wow! A courageous move I must say on Bridget’s part. Most people(me inclusive) would have just kept shut… I mean, she led Bridget to Christ anyway, and so ignore the leading of the Holy Spirit… This teaches me that despite the tittle, “Men of God” Pastors are still humans and can err. So my prayer, our prayers are needed for them not to flaunt in their work for God… More inspiration MA.

    • Edith Ohaja

You’re right, my dear! They need prayer very much because, as you said, we’re all human. And even more because I tend to think that the devil targets them more due to the havoc they inflict on his kingdom. May God help us not to slander or criticise them maliciously but to continually intercede for them in Jesus’ name.

  • MBATA CHIEMIKE JEMITA

Hmmmmm, really some women and men of God take these opportunities to do as they like saying that it is God who said which is very very bad. I think this is a lesson we should all learn from.

  • Okemiri ifunanya Diana

Wow! This is a lesson that everyone should look into because most of us follow the wrong people thinking that they are following the Lord because he is man of God,even when Jesus was sharing the word of God with his disciples he never said you most do what I said because am the son of God ,those that hear from God should also allow us to meditate after we are spoken to because God can use anyone.

    • Edith Ohaja

Correct. We shouldn’t throw away our minds. It’s called ultra or super spirituality and it’s not good. No Christian should allow another to spoonfeed him,or her. We should all endeavour to know God for ourselves and seek counsel from others as occasion demands. They should not think for us and control us like marionettes.

  • Ogbu Gloria

Wow…this is mind blowing,Christianity has nothing to do with the years you have known God or the power you exhibit as a Christian but your personal walk with God and your knowledge/understanding of God’s word.Truely God can use anyone even a baby christian as Didi called it,I really love this story.God bless you ma for always using your stories to reveal some mysteries in God’s word…more grace ma

  • ISAAC NWANNEKA OYIRIDIYA

WE SHOULD KNOW GOD FOR OURSELVES.WE CAN SAVE EVEN THOSE THAT “THINK” THEY HAVE KNOWN ALL THE THINGS OF GOD

  • Blessing Chukwuneke

This story just tells us that being in the church for decades, or occupying exalted positions in the church doesn’t make you a Christian. What makes you a Christian is the love of Christ in you and the enlightenment or revelation you receive from him which helps you to walk with him and in him. You only do His will when you know Him.

  • The word Christianity means alot, and it’s only through Christ that we can be true Christians…..

  • wow. am thrilled. what makes us christains is being Christ-like by showing the love of God to all we come in contact with , and not by how many years we have stayed in the church or our positions there. God can truly use even our enemies to bless us.

  • Agu Ginika Rebecca

Christianity entails being humble because we all look up to Christ irrespective of the spiritual position we think we have attained. The men and women who work for God should not always wear the garment of pride when carrying out God’s work or always feel that their actions are right not knowing that they are going contrary to what God actually want from them, aldough some might be ignorant of such things they do, that is why we should not be to quick to judge them or even our fellow Christians, rather we should always call their attention whenever they are going astray because they are human beings and are not also perfect, as displayed by Bridget to Didi.

    You have done well Ma

  • No matter your level in Christ, don’t ignore advice because the Lord can talk to you through anyone. Nice one Didi for recognising ur fault.

  • maduebo ifunanya blessing

Christianity is based mostly on love and faith. Bridget handled the situation in a Christ-like manner. i love this story. God bless you ma.

  • Fidelis Favour Chiamaka

I learnt from this story that correcting someone doesn’t require force or harsh words. Handle things in a cool manner, just like Bridget did and get a positive result.

  • Aneke Modesta Chinemerem

Wow,this is just awesome, the way God just used small Bridget to talk to Didi despite the fact that Didi brought her closer to God. It is interesting to note that God can use someone that you are even more spiritual than to call you to order when you are not living your life accordingly, is left for you to check yourself thoroughly and see if they are actually right as seen in Didi’s case and change your lifestyle

  • ohakwe oluchi judith

God can use anyone at anytime. Who would have believed that Bridget will be the one to lead DIdi back to God? This Didi’s attitude is synonymous to that of many Christians nowadays, they become too familiar with God that they fight God’s battles, do things the way they want, rebuke people anyhow and anytime in the name of God not knowing that the Lord has left them a long time ago…

  • Nwosu Esther

True,God can use anyone to pass a message to another

  • Onwuka Chinaecherem Emmanuel

I know, we are children of God & to us he has given dominion and power like the scripture says ” the word suffers violence and by violence we taketh it by force” but this does not imply we should do so for selfish means

  • Josiah Judith Enobong

God can use anyone as an instrument to lead another back to Christ. We are God’s instrument you know if only we’d allow him use us. Who can believe God will use Bridget to lead Didi back to him?

  • Sylvia Ugwoke

I am happy they were able to reconcile

  • ugwublessingchinenye10@gmail.com

The words that Bridget told Didi show that the knowledge of the true nature of God cannot be measured by the length of time one answers names like Evangelist,Pastor or whatever. Rather it is measured by the revelation of God to his true sons and daughters.

  • Ezenwa Obinna G.

Ma, I must confess that this is one of the predominant issues in Christian Ministries in our contemporary time. So many Ministers of the Gospel are guilty of this, using their spiritual authority and power to hurt people, curse people and destroy lives they were called to save. For the back to sender prayer, it has gone viral in many Christian Ministries like a wild fire, whereby God’s people now operate as soccerers/socceresses who exchange blows via diabolic spell-casting and other spiritual manipulations to prove their prowess and level of mastery in the mystic plane of Dark powers. Believers who pray like that are no different form from such satanists. Mummy Didi was able to realise where she had fallen and consequently took correction, that’s the mark of repentance. I bless God on her behalf.

  • MONYE GIFT ONYINYE

Most times we live a life of self righteousness without noticing our faults and weaknesses. It takes the grace and revelation of God to open our eyes to see the state we are and therefoe repent from it.

  • Emeh Akachukwu Esther

Thank God for someone like Bridget who was not afraid of Evangelist Didi, what she will do or say to her if she tells her the truth…many fear men but do not fear and honor God. Am happy Evangelist Didi was able to come to the light, accept her mistakes and turned fully and submissively to God.

  • IkennaPrecious

I think most of the time Christians misinterpret the word of God and this is affecting Christians as a whole. i just hope people like that are willing to acknowledge their mistakes and change just like didi.

  • Opara Stella Chidindu

I am glad Didi and Bridget were able to patch things up. It’s good to find friends who tell each other the truth (be it good or bad). It was high time someone had to tell Didi the bitter truth. Indeed everyone makes mistakes. Beautiful ending Ma!.

  • onyeabor ijeoma Rita

Am a bit confused here, does it mean when you are really a true believer God can do whatever it is that you want just like what Bridget narrated about Didi praying for a family to eject a flat all because she wants that flat? so does it mean God can even terminate an innocent person’s life all because you want the person dead? hmm this is really unbelievable!!! this is also a great lesson to us, God can even use a prostitute to change your life positively, we should always consider the opinion of people no matter their level compared to yours.

    • Edith Ohaja

My dear, that is why Bridget called it witchcraft. It’s an abuse of soiritual power. Casting spells on others to have one’s way. The person doing this is crossing over from God’s side to the devil’s side. That is why Didi repented and asked for God’s mercy.

  • One problem Christians have is misuse of the power and freedom God gave them. What the bible said is raw fact “not everyone who calls me lord lord will enter the kingdom of God but only those that do the will of my Father in heaven” In our claim to be God’s servants, we should always examine our lives to know if we are getting it right. I thank God that Didi later realised that she was wrong. nice one ma. thanks

  • okoh daniel

Wow, what a twist of faith and it shows nobody is above mistakes and better still perfect as mortals. glad Didi saw it the way she did and changed on time, win-win situations for all…Bless you, Ma!

  • Nweke Jemimah Chisom

I like the way the story ended. I also love the fact that Didi now agrees that everyone must not be like her or take everything she says. its very important for us to know our limits in people’s lives. its their lives after all.

  • OKEKE CHINONYE

Didi really put up some courage there by not allowing pride overtake her. Bridget played her own part too by talking to a mother like a mother!

  • UGAMA GLORIA NKECHINYERE

A good friend is a friend that tells you the truth and not hide it from you, am glad Didi and Bridget patched things up. this is a nice story!

  • Ikwuakam Oluchi

Most ministers of the gospel should be willing to accept their faults even when it comes from one of your followers, because that follower of yours may just be the medium through which God wants to reach out to you and prepare you for acceptance into His kingdom.

  • Henry

There is no seniority in the Holy Spirit. He can minister unto a Pastor via his usher, provided the message is passed.
For HIM to speak through Bridget to Didi was to humble her and bless God she did.
However, Christians should learn not to twist the Scriptures to their taste and comfort. But i dont vouch for Church arrange marriages sha..

  • ABONYI CHISOM. E.

Wow! I really love this story. God can use anybody to change a soul, Didi taught that all her actions were pleasing God but it was not, God use the least person she expected to change her life.

  • Agada chinenyenwa Lucy

Nice one ma ,this story tells that we should not bear grudges against our neighbour rather we should call the person and tell him or her how you feel about so so attitude and also be mindful on the words we use on people, this happened between Didi and Bridget but at last ,everybody was at peace.

  • Iroegbu Chinatu Amara

Its never wrong to make a mistake. The most important thing is owning up and realizing what you have done. That’s a nice way to settle issues between mature adults. Great piece.

  • Akuma Victor

We learn everyday;in our social lives and even more in our religious lives, no one knows it all, But then, the ability to listen even in our pride will make us know more and serve God better. Bridget did well in making sure she didn’t sound rude in her advise and Didi further did well in listening, recognising her faults and deciding to take corrective measures. Nice food for thoughts ma’am

  • Abugu Chinazom

Lol…funny and inspiring at the same time. I really love Bridget’s spirit, very strong and easy to understand situations.
Thank you for converting Didi’s mindset a little. At least, she’ll start allowing people make decisions on their own.
Thank you for this piece ma!

  • Ugwuja cynthia chioma

When God wants to bless us, he uses people we least expected. Who would have known that bridget will turn out to be dike’s saving grace. God is indeed efficient

  • ofodile chinenye

wow is a wow. superb write up ma. i was touched because i have ben in a similar case as bridget only that i couldn’t speak up for myself. this story is encouraging and treaches us to always stand for what is righjt no matter what. you are blessed!

  • ugochukwu ogwu

Indeed no one is above corrections. We most times try to convert the scripture to fit our wrong lifestyle and that’s very damaging to us. I love how Bridget tried advising Didi in a very calm manner and Didi did well by recognizing that she could gain from that advice. People should learn from this and no that shouting or casting off someone doesn’t help just advice in a calm manner and pray. Thanks ma for this

  • Ezeh Onyekachukwu christiantus

Bridget is a very confident woman, I admire her confidence, we all are humans, and we are bound to trespass, anytime we are offended, we should pray for the spirit of God so that we can forgive. I really learnt alot from this story.

  • Ene Kosisochukwu Zita

Bridget’s relationship with Didi was just an improvised explosive due to explode and it did. Before they met it was already staged by God that they were going to change each other’s life. And the process commenced the day they met. People need to pay attention to really get why things happen the way they do. God really used Bridget to save Didi’s life.

  • Onoh Oziomachukwu

I like the way they talked things through and finally reached a conclusion. Very mature thing to do.

  • Eze,Nnenna

this is wonderful! When God wants to do his work, he choses one irrespective of gender, status or background. Thank God for the way Bridget responded to the issue.

  • Chidinma Obasi

This beautiful story cut my attention to what some men of God this days do, to make some persons feel that they are inferior to them (Pastors). Jesus said, if only we can believe in him, greater works shall we do even more than he did. So, for everyone who carries the Holy Spirit can do what Jesus did. This may not be necessarily be on the pulpits, but can be at one’s little corner. To the Christians (including myself as well ) be courageous and know that you can do it. Thanks ma.

  • Chekuzo veronica

Bridget did the right thing by standing up to Didi not many people would accept the truth they would rather remain in sin than swallow their pride And admit they are wrong.

  • Amaobi Precious

Now that’s more like it. Kudos to Bridget for being able to tell Didi the truth when others couldn’t. And kudos to Didi for being teachable and humbling herself to listen to the voice of reason. God will indeed restore her. This story teaches a lot. Thank you Ma. Its a beautiful story.

  • Chigbo God'spromise E

Every day of our lives, we need to examine our relationship with God and with others. If Mummy Didi had observed this self-examination she would not have been having dreams of untimely death and other challenges.

  • Ibe Chinwe Cynthia

Glad Didi could acknowledge her mistakes. Bridget was truly an angel sent to her from above. Such wise words, such wisdom! God really designed her as His tool for touching Didi’s life.

  • ugwuaneke Grace U.

our fellow human is the God we see,we learn from them as God speaks through them. But most times we get confused of what to believe and who the real servant of God is,this is an interesting story,In this world,no one is perfect,so the more we open our heart to learn, the more exposed we are.

  • Akogu Juliet Aniema

What I learnt from this story is that God can use anyone to bless you, no matter how high or low the persons class is…this story is really a food for the thought… I am happy that I stopped by…thanks mam

  • Keswet mercy

The saying that a problem shared is half solved is so true, and i feel, as Christians, we should be open to learn from any1 even if we consider ourselves more knowledgeable.

  • Ezugwu ogochukwu

Wow Bridget really handled the situation in a matured and amicable way.

  • Onoh, chiazo Johanness

God always have a way of working and he is wonderful. You never know who will be your Savior or who God will use as an instrument to carry out his work.
Mummy Didi would never had thought that the” baby Christian ” will be the one to help talk to her and redirect her life. God uses anyone he wants and i thank God it all went well with them
    Nice one

  • Joseph joy

When some people get things of the world, they start to develop prideness in them, but finally God’s mercy is always there for us…..nice story

  • Onyeka pamela chiamaka

Such an interesting story ma. Sometimes all we need is someone to sit us down and tell us d truth. And I admire bridgets courage some pple take wat their pastors or church mothers tell them hook line and sincar

  • Onwuania adaora p

Bridget has been a God sent to Didi without her knowing. The lord used her to correct Didi of the bad attitudes towards other people. We should not forget where we started in life when we get to a higher place.

  • UGWU, CHUNAGOROM JOSEPH

This is an awesome story with an awesome end. There are people who have so much powers and authority that it appears no one can talk to them; as in correct them lest they be victimized. Didi falls in this category. Sometimes the person to talk to him/her is the person’s son or daughter. For Didi to exhibit and exert some much authority and influence that even pastors are afraid of her is very unusual and unchristian which in the words of Bridget ..”Jesus certainly didn’t act like that.” There are many Didis today, that like Didi, are evangelists without Christ; Whose Actions and Inactions do not represent their belief in Christ or Please God. God Obviously Used the so-called Baby Christian to Change Her for God. Alleluia! God Bless You, Ma.

  • EKWUEME VICTOR OBIORA

Wisdom is the best guidance of once action. Bridget proved this by not acting violently but counting her steps of clearing doubt from Didi

  • Egwuonwu Priscilla

An interesting and reflective story. Thank you ma and God blessings on you.

  • Okereafor, Cynthia Uchechi

It is nice that God used Bridget to turn Didi away from her bad ways. Didi also did well to listen and obey her in what appeared like a servant counseling the master. A nice work from Our Aunty. God Bless You!

i like the way and manner Bridget pointed out Didi’s character without hate. i think that is a manner that should be required of a good and practicing christian. it’s also a nice thing to wait upon the Lord.

  • Stephen Rosemary Ibibo

we should pray for the spirit of God so that we can forgive. I really learnt a lot from this story.Bridget is a very confident woman, I admire her confidence

  • Chika Divine Umunnakwe

Bridget is a great daughter of Zion. She knows we are human and has been honest enough to help a woman who introduced her to the light. Bridget did well by preparing herself; growing spiritual and not giving up on her mummy in the Lord. She refused to ignore her mother in the Lord who was going astray unknown to Didi. Bridget would have given up on her, or accept her choice since has been in Christ before her( Bridget) but she stood to see her mother delivered from the path that leads to destruction. on the other hand, God showed mercy on Didi who after her pride; accepted her wrongs and accepted her savior anew for her peace and communion . As christian we should be opened to correction. It does matter how long a person has become born again; he/ she must be checked.

  • Atudume B. Chinwendu

Often times, men and women that are used by God has tuned their gift of the holy spirit into weapon of suppression and revenge, while some has taken it as a game of try and see. Yes, I understand that portion of the bible that says ” right from the days of john the Baptist the kingdom suffered violence and only the violent taketh it by force”, this verse has over time be misunderstood by men and women of God. I know of prophet when he prophecies to u, he raps it up with, if this does not happen, then you know that am not a servant of God, some will say if I have lied about what I told u… When I go out today let a car hit me down. For God’s sake, when u speak to me in such manner, what other nerve do I have to approach you when you have already stated your superiority. Ma this is a nice writeup, though it’s fictional but its actually happening.

  • chidera odo

Yes, that how things should be done, at times,we should try and listen to other people no matter how small or big they are, spirituality is not by how old bt how close you are to God.. See how God use Bridget to save Didi, had it been Didi continued with her godmother thing. Who know what might happen to her later…

  • Ugwu Amarachi Chinemerem

You know somethings are annoying but thanks to God its only by his grace that we keep our sanity in check, it is his grace that was with Bridget, i like the way she corrected didi with no hatre, no violence

  • Ibe Okwukwe Emmanuella

Friends that have your progress in mind matters, when you find a friend like that, never let go because they are really hard to come by. Bridget was really a true friend to Didi. God always know how to direct people to come to your need and in helping you grow, just as Bridget helped Didi.

  • Abugu Nkemjika

God talks to us through our fellow man, so we should listen to one another irrespective of our status in life.
I love the way Bridget handled the situation.

  • Abugu Nkemjika

God speaks to us through our fellow man so we should listen to each other irrespective of status.
I love the way Bridget handled the situation.

  • Anigbo Chisom anastesia

    Awww.
Ma the way you dress your stories is quite intriguing….is a good thing to listen to an advice that will mould you into a better person and is good to convert souls to praise God,once you have the opportunity

  • Ijeoma Okoroafor

She should just be left alone to her decisions, they cannot choose a partner for her, besides she’s an adult .

  • Joseph Jennifer Ezinne

Wow! I really wish lots of Christians would be opportuned to read this story and learn from it. There’s a whole lot more to being a child of God than violence and fire prayer! God simply used Bridget to direct Didi
This story taught me that God can use anybody. We are all vessels in the house of God. Never look down on yourself today! God can use you to minister to a great man or woman of God. He looks not at physique and appearance, the heart is all that matters !thank you for such a lovely story ma

  • Okereafor, Cynthia Uchechi

Some People acquire so much influence that they feel they should not be corrected. The gap between not correcting her and correcting her is the absence of a man or woman of courage. Bridget, in the story, became the woman of courage to fill that void. Although it was not an easy task, but she was able to throw her sins to her. Mummy Didi understood after a while, that was nice of her. In the end, A new Didi was achieved. Thank god for Bridget.

  • Anyadubalu Oluchi Maryrose

Right now, I am so happy with Bridget, she didn’t fear mummy Didi at all, she told her to face what she wanted for her self and mummy Didi understood after a while. I am happy for both of them especially Bridget .

  • Maduabuchi Ebube Deborah

Sometimes people misused this word Christianity, condemn and judge people using the word born again, how can didi be fighting all neighbours and yet she stil called it that she is a child of God,well a big applause to you for having the courage and talked to your mum about her behaviour even thou am not in support of you calling her witch,no matter what your mum must have done, your mum is still your mum and not everything that enters your mind that you will tell her…..you really are very courageous for pouring your heart to her, correcting her wrongs and am very happy that didi was able to listen to her daughter finally……nice story indeed….

  • Catherine Ndukwe

Most people who attain certain positions in life thinks it’s by their own doing and therefore do not stand to be correct by anybody. However, I thank God for giving bridget the courage to confront Didi about some of her conducts which she thinks are right. And I also thank God for giving Didi a penitence spirit.

  • Onyema bright

Kia!!! This is how God expect Christians to resolve issues within themselves.Am so humbled by sis Didi’s act of obedience not all person could be humble enough as to approach Bridget in her house it shows she has the fear of God in her moreso I must commend Bridget for following Christ based on her personal relationship/revelation of Christ not based on her spiritual mother leading …..I was so blessed by this post

  • ezeagbo ifebuche juliet

God can work in many ways. though mummy Didi is an anointed woman of God, God spoke to her about her wrong doing through Bridget. God did not speak to her direct. so, it shows that the way of God is not the way of men. all glory to God that mummy Didi listened to what bridget told her. because if not for Gods intervention, mummy Didi may not have listened to what Bridget said to her.

  • Eze ifeyiwa edith

woa oo,this is lovely.i believe that no body is above being correct and also,we should be mindful how we act sometimes,Bridget did well by not acting violently but having a clear doubt from Didi.

  • onyema bright

kia!! this is how misunderstanding between two christains should be tackled…i first must praise mrs Didi for the humility to have gone to Bridget’s house to iron out the misunderstanding between both of them this shows that she is truely a woman of God and for bridget she must be praised for building her christain foundation on the word of God and not on what her mother in the lord wished she be…and i am most impressed by how they settled there differences…great story am sure blessed.

  • Emeka-obi Ijeoma Rita

mrs Didi is truly a God sent. God can use anyone to change our live. and i appreciate the way mrs Didi went about in resolving the issue between her and bridget it shows that she has the fear of God in her though she was called a witch by bridget it never stopped her from trying to resolve her misunderstanding with bridget.

  • praise chinazom onaga

Christians should read this. i also learnt a lot from this post. your position or role as a christian doesnt make one wiser than the other.

  • Peace onoja

Iron sharpeneth iron. Wonderful story indeed.

    • Ikebuaku Ezinwanne K

Sometimes we need people who will stand firm and tell us areas where we are missing it even when it hurts us and not sooth us to please us .I must confess I like the way Brigdet spoke to Didi and how Didi took note of her wrongs

  • ONONYE CHISOM DIVINEGIFT

This is what Christianity is all about.love, respect, forgiveness, obedience, readiness to learn, irrespective of your level in the ministry.as a minister of the gospel you need to listen to those people under you if you want to grow spiritual.because sometimes God uses them to teach you some things or even speak to you.

  • UGWUOTA DELISE PHILOMENA

PROBLEM SHARED ,THEY SAID IS HALF SOLVED.I LIKE THE WAY BRIDGET SPEAK IN THIS STORY AS A WELL TRAINED CHILD. GOD CAN USE ANYONE BIG OR SMALL TO SPEAK TO YOU WHEN YOU ARE GOING ASTRAY WHETHER YOU ARE MORE SPIRITUAL THAN THE PERSON OR NOT,IT DOESN’T MATTER IN THE EYES OF GOD

  • Adonu Ifeanyichukwu B

Should I call this story the home truth? Yes! If only friends actually watch one another’s back as Christians, we would have been faced with few social ills in our society. No one is too young or too old to make a difference in our society and God proves this each time he uses the least people in our midst to impact lives.
This story teaches that people should be open to criticism and correction no matter how highly placed they are in the society. The girl’s approach to Christianity is worthy of emulation. With this type of a Christian, the problem of fanaticism will be very minimal. Nice story.

  • Nnorom Wisdom

Yeah people can be a tad overbearing but I don’t think that you have to allow yourself to get do angry that you make use of abusive or hateful speech.
We must learn to control our mouth because the things we say ? can really hurt.

  • Nnakwe uchenna

The girl wasn’t right to insult someone who had done so much for her and who was much older than she was.
Most times we get carried away by peoples hurtful actions and say things that we shouldn’t. I guess I like your story. It has lots of moral lessons which is quite good.

  • Ugwu Chiamaka Peace

This is the real picture of Christianity, where we understand that no one is perfect and we’re humble enough to take corrections, no matter our position in the church. Thank you ma.

  • Gerald

Christianity is a budding, beautiful religion but it’s definitely not void of complexities.
Indeed, most times, we feel we act in accordance with the dictates of the scripture or in strict emulation of Christ’s life, but little do we know that, we have long left the path! ?

  • Ogbodo somtochukwu ikemefuna

D truth about it z dt some of dz our gim gim brothers and sisters in d lord will b forming over spirituality without knowing dt dy are failing it somewhere…
As a Christian ,u most b ready to learn, unlearn and relearn…
    Tnk God Didi learnt.. .

We are not d keeper of knowledge so no one knows it all.. .
We most b ready to learn and correct our selves

  • Ayigbo Chineme Edna

It’s good for us to have a mind of our own. Though we may look up to some persons just like this stroy portrayed, it is good for us to ponder on their actions and not just follow them blindly. We should also be ready to learn from people no matter who they are and how small they may be.

  • Ezeudu Chioma

I like the way the story ended, there was peace and Didi learnt a thing or two about how she’s taking her own christianity too far. The blessings of the Lord will always make rich and add no sorrow, kudos Ma.

  • Unwana Ekere

Understanding the scripture is very important, most people perish because of ignorance. Anyone can be your source of correction and encouragement.
Bridget was able to voice out Didi’s characteristics which was so unethica and Didi learnt and took correction immediately without recalling the past.
May God’s Grace keep us in jesus name!

  • EKPEMANDU DOMINICA NNEKA

It is really good and encouraging to understand each other. Didi and Bridget did which made them not to have sad times, in this, both were able to express their true feelings to each other which made them happier, at times, it is not good to force people on things, let him or her decide wisely, with God. Bridget is a very smart and intelligent lady which made her to be able to settle the issue with her God mother, Didi. Seeking the face of God is very important in anything we do, and Bridget never failed to do that. Interesting one ma.

  • Nwata Blessing Chinyere

None of us is perfect yet.
We all have our flaws and weaknesses.
God used Bridget to correct Didi wrongs, thankfully she accepted and took the path of change. God can use anyone, even a child to bless/correct us.
    Be blessed ma

  • IBEH CHIAMAKA

Most times, we become too over religious that, we don’t notice when we start causing problems for ourselves. Our relationship with people become strained. I’m glad that didi realised her mistakes and made an effort to change, even though she was too stubborn to admit to her mistakes in the forst placd Bridget was able to serve as an eye opener for her.

  • Njoku chiamaka Constance

No one is too big to be corrected and such corrections should be done with love. The power of God should not be used to torment others but rather bless others.

  • Onah Chiamaka Geraldine

Talking to people about what they do that is not good I always the best because sometimes they do it unknowingly… Am happy Didi realised this before the wrath of God came upon her.

  • Onovoh Adaeze J.

Bridget is a strong woman, who has a mind of her own, and i love her for that. I’m so happy God was able to use her to reach mummy Didi finally.

  • Okorie Adaora Nneoma

Age and spiritual status is not a barrier when God wants to help his people….God really used Bridget to talk to mummy Didi and even helped her open her eyes with the words she used that got to mummy Didi.An intriguing story I must say…

  • I think most of the time Christians misinterpret the word of God and this is affecting Christians as a whole. i just hope people like that are willing to acknowledge their mistakes and change just like didi.

  • Eze martins Tochukwu

Bridge being an intelligent and smart woman voiced out her opinion declaring that she have a mind of her own. Didi took correction this mean that no one is perfect.

  • Abasiofon Nkem

I LOVE THE FACT THAT SHE WAS ABLE TO STAND UP FOR WHAT SHE THOUGHT WAS RIGHT. LITTLE DID SHE KNOW GOD WAS USING HER TO CORRECT A FAULT IN SOMEONES LIFE. MOST CHRISTIANS NOW FOLLOW THEIR LEADER DESPITE THEIR WRONG BEHAVIOUR. THIS SERVES AS A LESSON TO MODERN CHRISTIANS TO STAND ON THEIR OWN GROUND AND FOLLOW THE RIGHT PATH.

  • Emmanuel

How I wish every today woman could be like be like Bridget. So strong willed and confident

  • OSSAI CHIDIMMA

we should watch our words for they could kill a wounded soul

  • Chukwuneke Adaeze jennifer

Bridget did the right thing by standing up to Didi. And as for Didi, not many people would accept the truth. They would rather remain in sin than swallow their pride and admit they are wrong. Admitting that you are wrong is a good Christian deed. The story was a nice one, ma!

  • Obiemeka favour chukwugozie

Thank God for using Bridget to save Didi. It is good to win souls. If Didi didn’t win Bridget to Christ, she might never have known her mistakes and had a chance to change. The truth is that nobody is above mistake. But correction should be done with love like Bridget did.

  • Chah ugochukwu

These days people don’t want to wait for anything they want what they want now even Christians. Someone wI’ll ahve a problem and he wonto wait on the Lord but will go ahead and look for solunions elsewhere. This is a call to teach us patience and also to teach us peace because if we want what we want now, not willing to what, we are certain to step on some toes like DidI with her neighbours, thus crating enmity which isn’t the Christian spirit. We are aknown Caledonian to listen to the advise of others link Didi did because GOD uses diFrere nt people at different times to speak to us

  • Ibe favour kalu

Wow! This is a nice story. Sometimes, we need to check our lives and deeds to see what we have been doing wrong. God can truly change your life through someone you think you are greater than: just like God used Bridget to change Didi’s life. Am blessed by this story.

  • Chukwu Oluebube juliet

Never let pride mislead you, learn to take corrections .no matter who you are ,you need another,we need each other

  • Okafor chidinma Josephine

Is good to have strong opinions about things, and make your own decisions without being influenced by other people.

  • Ezeoyili Ogochukwu Perpetual

This Story is really inspiring and educating. I really leant a lot from it. I am sure that anyone who reads this story will know that God is capable of using anybody he wants to help other people and I advice that we should always be ready to accept God’s help just like Didi did. I must also say that I love the way Bridget and Didi handled the situation……This is a nice one Ma.

  • Eya Paschal

This story really portrays the kind of life some of the so called ministers of God Live, misusing their authority and position by dictating ones life and future. We as christian should learn to listen to our fellow members without feeling superior. Like the saying goes Humility is a good Virtue. Nice one and kuddos to you and May God continue to empower you Ma

  • Ejiofor Emmanuel

No one is perfect, no one. Bridget did a good job by correcting her mother in the Lord without fear. We need to be like Bridget in our various workplace, telling our superiors when they are wrong. Note that it should be done in humility lest you are interpreted as questioning their authority

  • Chima ella

Truly no one is prefect, accepting mistakes and making efforts towards correcting it, is a special virtue ,especially when the errors are pointed out by certain so called lower placed people.

  • Okere Grace Onyinyechi

Very interesting piece ma! This story reminds me of what my pastor talks about believers misusing their “authority”.It is an eye-opener and I believe lessons will be learnt. God bless

  • Mark Favour

Two words stood out in this wonderful piece: witchcraft and dominion; and a believer may decide to be either of them or both. Witchcraft is about pleasing oneself at the expense of another, which is not necessarily Gods’will. Dominion is bringing under subjection, everything that defiles the reign of God. That is to say, dominion tends to exalt God and not self. Just like Bridget pointed out, men and women of God practise witchcraft all in the name of dominion.
One example is: when a man of God persuades a member of his Church to sow a seed in the name of averting death sentence on his/her head. The true remedy would have been for the man of God to pray and take charge of such situation instead of collecting money.
As for Didi, I could sense an aura of humility on her part and I like that. God loves a humble spirit.

  • Listening and having a teachable spirit is vital in the work of God .If Did I hadn’t listened to Bridget, she would have died prematurely .Let us believers listen to one another in the case of help and encouragement. It might be the word of God you need for that day, week or even through out your life time.

  • Chukwunwenwa Chinenye

I’m thrilled! God can actually use anyone to reach to us and it could be someone we’ve been looking down on.

God used Bridget to open Didi’s eyes. The attitude portrayed by Didi replicates itself in the lives of some ‘adult Christians’ today.
Most of them see themselves as Assistant-Jesus. I pray the Holy Spirit speaks to them through someone.

  • I admire Didi’s maturity and Bridget courage to speak up for the truth regardless of Didi’s position. it all ended well at the end and with the hope of Bridget giving a chance to brother Zion. No one should underestimate God’s ways, he can use even a child to bless you.

  • Chukwunwenwa Chinenye

I’m thrilled! God can actually use anyone to reach to us and it could be someone we’ve been looking down on.

God used Bridget to open Didi’s eyes. And most of the things she told Didi replicates in the lives of some ‘Adult Christians’ today.

I hope God approves our brother Zion for Sis Bridget.

  • Ugwuanyi Collette Mmesoma

What man sees is different from what God sees. This story tells us that God can use anybody notwithstanding the background or circumstances surrounding the person. Am sure Bridget never expected how she spoke to her mummy in the Lord, Didi. However God used Bridget to send some messages to Didi.

  • Theophilus Blessing

I have a confession Aunty, this is the most interesting series I have read on your blog. We seriously need to be careful with the anointing or power God gives to us. We should try not to allow it get into our heads. Like you said, none is perfect and the Bible also confirms that. So even as we correct the mistakes of others, let’s do that with some politeness so that when you also make a mistake, they can politely correct you.

  • Okoli Ezinne

Humility really matters, I love the way Didi accepted her lapses and asked for God’s grace. I learnt that God can always use someone to bless us.

  • Achugwo Larissa

Thank God Didi humbled herself listened. This shows that anyone can go astray no matter how old or experienced you are. Parents can learn from their kids, teachers from students, pastors from the congregation, etc no one is perfect

  • Omaga Chiagozie

God can works in a mysterious way. See how he used Bridget to call Didi to order. It take grace of God for Bridget to be able to talk to Didi when everyone couldn’t. We should not be afraid to talk to people especially when we know they are making mistake because nobody is above mistake. Some times we do thing thinking that it is right why in actual sense it is very wrong just like in the case of Didi. May God help is to know when we are deviating from his calling and also accept correction when we are being corrected

  • Idika Uloma Sophia

God can actually use anyone to bless someone at any point in time, despite your position in the society. It ended in Praise. Thanks to God.

  • Richards Orighomisan Mercy

Chai! A whole lot of people get this wrong. The manifestation of spiritual gifts and the anointing of God upon your life does not mean you are growing. The gifts of God are without repentance. You want to know if your growing? Let Christ be your weighing balance. Am I becoming like Jesus each and every single day? Am I manifesting the fruits of the Holy Spirit in my every day life? I used to get angry at the slightest opportunity, am I still that way? Chai, may God help us, may God help us in a hurry.
